This decision would be easier if I could find a brick & mortar that has both laptops so I could test the keyboard. I found the Omen-X online with a i7-7820hk so it may be the one. It may come down to which one I can catch the best deal on now...
I'm looking for a new laptop, but I'm a little particular about the features and form factor. I keep laptops for years, so I want to get something I'm going to be happy with long term.
Must have:
Rear cable management - I don't mind a couple of ports like USB or headphones on the side, but I...
I ended up buying a pair of XFX RX 480 8GB cards from Amazon to replace the HD7870s. I'll keep my monitor for a while longer, and maybe find a good deal on a 1440p monitor after I get my tax refund. I'll get new fans for the HD7870s, and eventually part out the lot.
What do you think a PowerColor HD7870 Myst + Kraken X10 + Corsair H55 would sell for on Anandtech? I have the original heatsinks, but the fans are gone.
I wish upgrading the cards is was an option, but I can either upgrade the monitor, or the cards, but not both. I have overclocked the cards a bit, and the water is pretty much silent so it's hard to replace them. Going with the 32" 2560x1440 monitor might be the best bang for my buck at this...
I have a pair of watercooled HD7870 Myst ed cards from PowerColor in Crossfire. I'm about to buy a new monitor and was thinking of going for a 32" 2560x1440 monitor like the HP OMAN. I know these cards are kinda old, but I'm thinking they should be able to drive descent framerates at that...
No luck on the custom install to work on my Asus M4A88T-I Deluxe.
I followed all the advice in the thread, and even tried to puzzle out the pieces myself. Been at it for hours, and I'm about to give up. Technically, I can get it to install, but it won't run. Keep getting an error about a...
What I can't figure out is why no one makes a one-stop-shop for control & monitoring. Having to run 5 different applications to monitor all aspects of the PC is a PITA.
Honestly, I don't know about the footprint. I generally have way more CPU and RAM than I really need considering the games I play and office apps so I don't mind if it uses a few resources. I used to be a purist too and couldn't wait to uninstall the bloatware, but this one I like.

+1 for the Elite 130 and 120
The Elite 120 has 3 sub but they are all 2.0.
Another + for the 120 is that with a small mod you can put two AIO watercolours (120mm radiators) and cool the CPU and GPU.
I have SpeedFan, CoreTemp, AMD Overdrive, etc, etc..., but I want a one-stop-shop of controls and information. I have a bunch of AMD Asus Boards: M4A88T-I Deluxe, 990FX Sabertooth (rev2), Crosshair V Forumula (not Z), and a couple I don't recall the name of. I'm probably in the minority here...
Wouldn't it be possible to have a paid level of membership (something reasonable of course) and not have to see any ads? They really screw with my browser and the jumps are causing miss-clicks onto ads or links I didn't want. It's only a matter of time before it frustrates me beyond repair...
You're in denial...
I realize you don't want to believe me, but read what a pro-Mac site has to say about the bending problem. I'll stick with what I said: it looks like Apple scaled up the design in the length and width dimensions to make a phablet, without increasing the thickness, so it...
LMAO
Yea, and nobody ever does anything stupid with their phones....
Face it, they essentially scaled up the iPhone 6 in two dimensions without increasing the strength of the frame to keep it thin, but feel free to argue with me if you want.
Glendor...
The only thing "retarded" - your word -about my analysis was my choice of the word 'better' when I should have said:
"It is going to be nearly impossible to convince me that that the $500 6+ is worth the 5x higher cost than the LG G3 for $99 w/ 2 yr contract."
We are comparing a $900 phone ($850...
They all look the same with an Otterbox on them anyway and let's face it, that phone is WAY too expensive / scrachable / BENDABLE to use without a protective case.
My wife is insisting on a 128Gb 6+ for the insane price of $499 w/ 2 yr contract. It is going to be nearly impossible to convince...
I ended up hosing the systemboard when I tried to reflow the GPU solder points. It won't boot now. I'm going to sell it for parts and look for a replacement during Black Friday
I don't believe the RAM is getting too hot, and they certanly looked normal when I dissassembled the laptop for cleaning. I suppose I could test each bank separately, and might even have an extra SODIMM I can test with.
I'll give that a try.
I have an HP DV7-1245DX (Specs: http://www.cnet.com/products/hp-pavi...-1245dx/specs/ ) that I suspect is overheating and crashing. It worked perfectly for WoW, Netflix, Web, and word processing for a few years, but after I let my wife use it, and she stopped using the elevated cooling pad, it...
I suppose the Olevia is an oddball. I tested the Olevia again last night, and the TV does control the output of the TOSLink.
If TOSLink output is fixed on Vizio, and apparently others, I suppose I'll have to rearrange my home theater to get the Z5550 controler LOS, and I'll have to invest...
Thanks for the reply. Is that a common design, or specific to my make/model? My other TVs worked fine the way I had them connected to the Z5550s. If I was to exchange it for an LG, or Samsung, would I have better luck with the TOSLink audio?
My old Olevia 37" TV was connected to my Logitech Z5550 speaker controler (amp?) using the TOSLink. Amp was in a cabinet, hidden from view, and set for about 50% volume. The TV remote would control the volume, and the amp would amplify it, as expected.
I upgraded my TV to a Vizio M3D550KDE...
I did do that, but it didn't work. I think I may have figured it out though. This came from my son-in-law, and I think he already paired four controllers with it. So, until I remove the pairings, I can't add any of my controllers, right?
Trying to fix an older XBOX 360.
It's one of the older white units without a harddrive.
It works fine with a wired controler, but none of the wireless controlers that came with my XBOX 360 Elite will connect to the older unit. I thought it might be missing updates so I connected the HD...
Let's stir up some trouble...
TurboGrafx FTW!!!!
First with 16 bit (I believe)
First with CD drive & games (years before SegaCD) (oh, and the CD unit could detach and become a portable music CD player)
First with 5 player games (pretty sure on this)
First with a COLOR handheld that used...
I've been really happy Logitech in the past (G500 & G700 were great), but I'm thinking about trying this Steelseries Legendary mouse for WoW.
http://www.amazon.com/SteelSeries-Wo...pr_product_top
The only thing holding me back is that I cannot find ANYWHERE if it has the TILT WHEEL feature I...
I have two of these in RAID0 in my main rig. SSD would have been quicker, but at the time the money would have put me way overbudget. This is a nice middleground between platters and SSD drives.
I wanted to spend about $280 on one card, but I was willing to stretch to $450 if it would get me two HD 6950 1GB cards (AR). After reading all the comments, and viewing a few more benchmarks, I'm probably going to get a single HD 6950 2GB, and wait for the price to drop before I get a matching...
I'm planning on a Crossfire setup, and probably even TriFire setup once the GPU prices drop a bit more, for my 3 display (19" portrait / 24" landscape / 19" portrait) gaming desk.
I'm seeing some great prices on factory overclocked 1GB HD6950 video cards, and could probably swing two of...
I would like to setup three monitors on my new desk, but I would like to do a 24 - 27" widescreen in the middle as the primary monitor (movies and stuff), and two smaller minitors in portrait mode on each side. I considered getting two 24" widescreens for the realestate, but when playing games...
That's too bad, but I know how you feel; I used to buy cheap cases too. I've been building PCs since 1993, and this is the best case I've ever used. It has all the features I liked about the Antec Ninehundred and it has all the improvements I had to customize my Antec to get (sturdier feet...
I've always wanted to do that myself, but every time I bring it up here on the forum, I get beaten down about it being a waste. Microcenter still has BFG GTX 275 OCs in Houston.......
