This is the Pro model, which is faster, so it's actually a pretty good price. I would think that the non-pro versions should probably reach $80 on sale sometime soon.
If she's dead-set on a Mac it's probably not a terrible price. That being said, if she just wants durability, get a low end Thinkpad. You can probably get something for under $600 on sale, and they're pretty much indestructible under regular use.

Hmm. If you actually like the PineSol taste, then you may want to try some more IPAs. Stone Ruination tastes pretty close to how PineSol smells IMO. Although that is a REALLY extreme IPA.
IPAs aren't for everyone (Personally, I disliked them at first, aquired a taste for them and loved them, and now I dislike them again for some reason). But if 90 minute is too bitter for you, I seriously doubt that you're going to like any other IPAs. 90 minute IPA has a huge amount of malt...
Sounds like bad parenting, 100%. Even if he is a psychopath (which is probably unlikely), his parents should be able to instill some degree of discipline in him.
You really need to talk to someone at your school about this. Without knowing the specifics of your school, it's difficult to help you. Chances are, there are some people in administration or student government who are very knowledgeable about this and do know all of these specifics.
