Build Remake Made a couple changes to the SSD options after reading the manual on the mobo, the 2nd M.2 slot disables sata3/4 and you get gen3x2 speeds on it.

Ok, explain please. Most of the paste I’ve ever used was what came with the cpu, or that one tube of Arctic Silver I bought years ago, mainly because they were the only brand available. I would like to know what makes them different now.

You are correct sir, it was aesthetic, this is my first system with RGB and they fit with the mobo. And they were reasonably priced for the design and speed rating.

All the PSU calculators I looked at nail it around 400w. Wanted 550w at least for future upgrades. And no, I don’t need both but I prefer keeping my game library separate from my OS install and I’m done with slow mechanical HDD’s.

Short of it is a Ryzen 2600, RX590(maybe a 1660 variant if I can swing it in), nvme, regular SSD, rgb ram, mobo with rgb stuff, rgb case ( geez that sounds like a lot). Most of the psu calculators are targeting around 400w, so I figure a 550 or 600 would be fine for future upgrades. Found the...

Bitfenix has been around a while in the market. They popped up on several psu reviews and were liked to stability, efficiency and silence. I know the one on the list is overkill, but it’s all I can find available. The 550w runs about $20 cheaper. Samsung for the SSd .... (sigh). Everyone uses...

Basically, yes. It will go from D1 > thru switch > router to figure out where to send it > back thru switch > D2 this is assuming you are using a dumb switch that doesn’t hold any route information.

Yep, the Netgear one they list as "compatible" is $340 on Amazon. Value wise, I think I will be better off with the Arris SB8200 and a Nighthawk AC1900, around $250 together on Amazon.

I have the only Internet option, no voice so that doesn't matter. As for the "unlimited internet" thing, basically it's supposed to be no data cap, but you have to deal with their Advanced XFi Security crap they tag onto your account, which will block access for damn near anything they think...

No can do. Comcast completely locks out any end-user configuration except for SSID names and passwords, very basic DMZ and port-forwarding. You can't even choose what ip subnet block you want to use for the internal IP's. It's horrendous, otherwise I would do that for the time being.

About game install sizes

Got signed up for MS GamesPass to check out newer games without having to buy it. Great business model for this. Anyway, I have Gears 5 at 85GB and Forza Horizon 4 at 75GB and two smaller games around 8GB each. 176GB for 4 games on a 1TB HDD. It’s ridiculous, I get new textures and graphics...
