Well I had no problems with my gainward, mine was one of the first models and did not come with this second plate added on, im sure you could cut it off but i would still get the zalman. Here is a pic of what mine looks like:

I ended up buying the NV Silencer after all, for two main reasons; it was about $10 cheaper and it actually blew the hot air out of my PC. I thought that my Gainward dual fan loud POS would cool as good or even better than the NV silencer would. btw I have 1x very low speed 120x120 silent case...
Uhhh, dude do you work for Microsoft or something? Its just a Cooling fan, its not gonna break the video card unless the cooler didnt work, or the installer was fully retarded.
