Garage: How to find wooden stud to hang stuff?

you can also use a couple strong magnets to find the screw heads holding the drywall to the stud. just make sure you find two or three in a row to form a rough pattern.

Is South parde island still unsafe?

I was down there for work not long ago and did not hear anything about the island being unsafe. However several locals told me not to cross the border into Mexico there.

painting the whole house interior

I have the Bookeen Cybook Gen 3 and have been pretty happy with it. I can't speak much about the formats used because i have only read .prc which is a mobipocket format, .pdf and a couple of .txt. The battery life is fine, I don't know about 11,500 page turns but i can generally finish at least...

Anyone have one of those indoor portable air conditioners?

I have 2 of them, one soleus and one everstar. They don't work as well as an equivalent btu window unit, but they do work. The Everstar has a bucket that has to be dumped everyday, the soleus has an evaporator and has not filled the bucket yet.

stupid invisible fence

I cheated and put mine in pcv then just left the pvc on top of the ground. There is a tool that i think you can rent from home depot called a ditch-witch, it is basically a big slow chainsaw for digging narrow trenches. i have never gotten to play with one, but i want to.

Hooray! A Feast for Crows has shipped!

"A Game of Thrones" was a very good book. It didn't have much in the way of fantasy. I would call it more of a swords book than a sorcery book. The rest of the series does move more into fantasy as it goes on though.

Advice on buying a desk

How much does the Jerker cost in the store? They have it online for ~$130 and I was going to order one until I got the email saying it would cost $298 and some change to ship it. Just curious if it is worth driving 6 hours to get one. thanks much

Quick Dual Monitor Question

Waterproof sheets of paper! HOW DO I DO IT?

Once it is printed you can try soaking it in cooking oil. That will keep the water out, and I don't think the oil will make the ink run. I know it works short-term for maps in wet weather. It might work for you.

I'm pretty sure that it is babyoil and water. With food color added to the water to get the blue and the babyoil sitting on top. I'm not positive but that at least should get you started.

long cable run

We had a company come out and test the cable. They said it passed spec, but i don't know exactly what tests they ran on it. We did try putting a netgear 8 port in the middle to see if it would boost the power. It actually slowed down some. The netgear is probably not hte best thing to use...

long cable run

My problem is this, I have a cat 5 cable run that is 324(mostly vertical) feet. We had it tested and it checks out ok, and it does work. It just works very slowly. It is cat5e riser cable, but it is not shielded. Is there anyway that we could boost the signal? I looked and all the repeaters that...
