Thermal Paste - longevity..

MX-2. That crap claims to last 8 years.? Allegedly its a degree or two better than AS5. I stumbled across it but went with AS5 anyway to play it safe + evidently the MX-2 tube doesn't last many applications.

New build, need to get the price down a little

The 550VX is plenty good. The lack of modular cables is a downer but some seem to think they're just one more cause for concern. If you're anxious to pull the trigger I'd say go for it.

This rumor is a bit old. Unfortunately, its been stated the 3.6 will come in around 260hp instead of the hoped 300. It will remain direct injected but I suppose they couldn't have a base Camaro nipping at the heels of the CTS. With the V6 only coming in at 260 I'd be more than a bit surprised...

Bought my first new car yesterday :)

Sweet ride. I don't loathe the chocolate or "cocoa" or whatever they call it colored inserts as much as I thought I would. Saw some promo pics of an Aura with them way back when and wasn't a big fan. Looks a bit better in pics than I anticipated. Good luck with the car.!

Honestly that sounds like a decent buy. Mom has a 98 and still going strong. I'd inquire about the status of the head gasket- if and when it was last changed because its almost certain to have been. If that particular example is in good shape its a smooth running, strong gas mileage boat.

If you're looking to spend in the area of $1200 I'd suggest a Q6600 personally. The low cache of the 2160 has started to make itself evident in gaming benchmarks and it doesn't sound like you're trying to pinch every penny. I'd go quad since you're willing to overclock. You can't go wrong...
