SLI is now Official for AMD's Motherboard Chipsets.

GTX 580 : Unable to Watch Video

The same problem happened to a couple of months ago with my 8800GTS 640MB. I tried everything but the only thing that solved the problem was replacing the card itself. Somehow running flash video (Youtube) killed it. D:

460 on order

I'm in the same boat as you. I'm currently using a 8800GT that's I'm borrowing from my friend. I'll overclock my E5200 to 3.2GHz to overcome a bit of the CPU limitation for the GTX 460 I'm planning to buy at the end of the month.

As in my sig, a 8800GT 256MB. I'm planning to get a GTX 460 1GB but I'm gonna wait for a few weeks for GTX 560. :)

gtx570 pictured; near-GTX480 specs

This 570 looks to a nice jump from 470 from the rumoured specs. But I think I might just wait for the GTX 560 for my next upgrade since it looks to be a 384 shader.

I'm in much of a dilemma right now. In my country, the 6850's price is about the same as most GTX460 cards. Since most 460's are factory OC (e.g. EVGA SC, ASUS TOP, MSI Cyclone etc), their performance should be on par with the stock 6850 right?

WD Green 1TB WD10EARS is pretty darn fast!

Here, have a look: http://imgur.com/Yi6eb.png I am comparing it to my WD3200AAKS dual platter version. Probably the 64MB cache is helping it achieve these high rates. Seek time is lower, but I am using at as a secondary HD so no problem here.

How do you store a floating point number in x86 asm?

Yeah, I've looked at it before :). The example only shows how to output floating point number, not how to store it in the memory. Thanks for mentioning it though.

Dave: Hmm, I haven't thought of using BCD. Thanks for the tips. Esun: I'm quite familiar with the IEEE method, but I haven't thought of implementing it in a program. Yeah, it seems to take a lot of work. But, I'll try it too.

Vista won't boot after clean install.

So I just bought a new WD 3200AAKS hard disk to replace my aging 40GB OS hard disk. When installing vista, I made two partitions, the first about 100GB and the second one contains the rest of the remaining space. Both are then formatted. Vista then installs fine on the 100GB partition. Now...

The life of 775

Coming from Socket 478 (best evar!), LGA775 is not bad IMO. I just hate the fact that the metal bracket scratches and dents my cpu's IHS. Push pins heatsink is neat.

LGA775 load plate chipping CPU

Okay, I've just built my first LGA775 system few days ago. While installing the cpu, I noticed that the load plate exerts a lot of pressure on the cpu, and thus slightly leaving some marks on the CPU. At the place where the load plate contacts the IHS of the CPU, I found a bit of the IHS was...
