Is there any reason to use FX CPUs right now?

I don't know. I have a 670 and love it, but, it's hard to take away anything from that article other than the 7950 is clearly the better performer. He tries to sugar coat it with platitudes and explanations to the contrary, but I dunno.

Surprising, and a nice boost for AMD, especially if it's true Nvidia has access to the game while ATI has to wait until launch. Be interesting to see if a new Nvidia driver in a day or so does anything to improve performance.

Need help with MSI HD 7950 VS Gigabyte GTX 670 (Open Box)

"They'll fix they GW2 issues eventually." And this is why I switched from ATI to Nvidia after years of having ATI cards. I just don't have the time or patience for it anymore. I have a Winforce 670, it's amazingly quiet and cool and easily overclocks past 1200. I recommend it.

GTX 660Ti Reviews

And throw in Borderlands 2 and it's a no-brainer. People are going to eat up this card even at $300. Outside of these forums, it's a being seen as the new go-to over the 7950. The 7950 is a solid card, but not the popular kid.

Gigabyte (GV-N670OC-2GD) GTX 670 bios update out.

Seems like they've just had trouble working around Kepler in general. In any case, it's easy as pie to flash. Flashed mine, no problems. Even got +10 on the overlock as a bonus, heh.

Gtx 670 FTW bios 1.21v

Understandable, but the interesting thing is how easy it was. I used the zotac firestorm utility, save my current bios, flashed the new one and rebooted. Less than 5 minutes. Then you just increase or decrease (it STARTS at 1293 core, I had to do a -10 on my GPU offset) and then run haven. Done...

Thanks. AMD makes good cards, I just think I'm ready to move on from them. Sound like a 480 is a solid choice for the money for me.

Ati 5850...

As long as it's a reference card, it doesn't matter, get the one on sale. Ref cards are becoming harder to find though and prices on all 5850's have gone up since the fermi turd hit the market. A non ref card wont be able to do a soft volt mod, limiting your overclock. The exception being MSI...

I find these to be fishy to say the least. An odd selection of things to benchmark, it looks more like the "official" nvidia benchmarks "leaked" the other day, right down to the same games tested.

My temps are around 77-83 under load depending on how high I have the fan. My vrams are below 90. Both are acceptable for this card.

I've had mine stable at following for months now: Volts: 1250 Core: 935 Memory: 1200 That's faster than a stock 5870. Fan speed I keep at 45-50ish percent when I game. BTW, this thread is a great place to see benchmarks between the 5850 and 5870's when overclocked and at stock...

Anand's 5830 Review!! Benches and all!! Anand is disappoint with this card!!

I dub this card the "5830 Turd blossom". What the hell, not faster than a 4890? Are you kidding me? You already have a slower DX11 card, it's the 5770. It will be interesting to see how well they OC though. If you can OC it to or past 4890 performance levels and the price comes down some...

I'm considering upgrading from my workhorse q6600 at 3.4 I've been eyeballing AMD3 because of the price/performance ratio seems to be pretty good. I don't do video encoding, etc, I'm just a gamer. What would be a good upgrade for performance *and* a clear upgrade path for the foreseeable...

ati 5830 dissapears?

They had some issues with faulty PCB being sent out to card makers. It's been delayed twice now and is now expected in mid Feb or early March. I gave up and got a 5850, no regrets.

5830 delayed indefinitely - crap

No where does it say the launch of the 5830 has been delayed "indefinitely". This is just a rehash of the digitimes article regarding the test boards being recalled. In fact, it says they should still launch sometime in early Feb.

"The 'doesnt scale, microstutter, drivers' argument is less valid considering price/performance IMO." This is the bogey man argument right here for this card and it's used by a lot of people on the net to discourage the 4850x2. The problem is, there is only the one Anadtech two gpu review...

Haha, yeah, sounds like a seating issue. That card is x-box huge so it may have trouble staying seated properly. Just keep an eye on it.

Make sure you have *both* power connectors pluged plugged into the card, you need to have them both attached to the card to power it up. If it's plugged in and still not working, I'm not so sure. Edit: I've heard something about this happening with certain video cards and people have reported...
