figured it out with a loop
for i in $(snmpwalk.sh <mib> s | awk /block/ | sed -e 's/^.*Status.//' -e 's/ =.*//'); do <proprietary command> | awk /$i/;done
thanks for the replies
This is being run on a stripped down version of NetBSD. This OS is on a SAN device. I have sed, awk, and shell. Bash was removed a little while back.
I'm getting closer, but I can't seem to work it into my situation. The decimal messes with the 'greater than' and 'less than'...
Indeed, grep would save the day...however...
output from shell:
#grep
grep: not found
#
unfortunately grep is not on this OS
I think I could finagle it into a 'one liner' if I could just figure out if/how awk can verify that there is a match or not.
if $vol is not null (using awk)
then...
Essentially yes.
For matches in file_a, print lines in file_b which contain match. If no matches in file_a, stop and print "no match"....or even no output is fine. I was trying to make it as simple as possible for anyone who wished to help.
This is actually being run on a live system...
This may be a simple one for the bigger brains of the forums, but I'm a scripting novice so it is driving me nuts.
file_a contains:
1
2
3
4
5
6
7
file_b contains:
7 hens
22 gorillas
31 kangaroos
working scriptlet:
i=$(awk /7/ file_a)
awk /$i/ file_b
output would...

Knoppix has helped me recover many 'a informations from "dead" hard drives. Just leave it plugged in while you boot Knoppix, if you are lucky it will pick right up on it and you can copy all the goods. good luck.
Might not need to reinstall - just try that ^^^^^ - Our computers at work did the same thing until the drive option was changed, then they booted with no problem.

In life, there is a delicate balance, a tango of events which play out through the day. Like the tango and its steps, if one of these daily tasks is performed out of its proper place, there is a possibility of a chaotic chain of events to follow.
In the tango of August the 7th, Chris (mashed...
Wow I can't trick you. How did you know that I used the "add spikes" feature under the "trickery" menu on my camera. Don't try to fool Eli anyone, he is on point.
Is that it? Plain old house centipede? I was hoping for satan's spawn centipede, or something cool. I never get anything cool/deadly in my house.
Mbrown, when I find it I'll PM you and we can meet so you can have one of your own.

My wife and I were watching Schindler's list, when she said what the &*^% is that? We whipped out the camera and snapped a few shots. When I went to scoop it into a cup, it lunged at...
I suppose I can post pics when I get home from work (3pm-ish EST). I will be sure to ask her opinions of the other issues at hand.
Was that first comparison meant to be Apple-butter vs Margarine? Or are you wondering what her opinion is of an apple in the singular form?
I'll ask her...
The wife's first guess (flower design lady) was a camellia. She wasn't 100% but it does look similar. Does it flower? She is scared you folks are gonna make fun of her, but I assured her that everyone is very polite and gentle on these forums.....
I use Knoppix to get files from a "broken" windows drive. It mounts all your hard drives to the desktop when you boot from the cd. The OS will mount a USB drive also, or you could write to cd.
It may not work if the drive has bad errors, but it is worth a try. I used it the other day, even...
I have had Mushkin in the past. Their support forums are amazing, their customer support is top notch, and also a lifetime warranty??? Unbeatable IMHO. Two of my sticks roasted, and all they needed was my invoice and I had new ones on the way.

1st - protect the screen I have used both crystal and the "matte" finish i guess you could call it. The crystal lets the colors shine through as if there was no cover, but there are a ton of fingerprints. With the matte finish, the colors are a little less vibrant, but there are no smudges...
Well, you will get extra space because you are buying another HD. The thing is, if you get a 1 tb and raid 0 it with the 500, it will treat it like 2 500 drives. So if you are going to be using these two drives for only Raid, there is no reason to get the 1 tb because you will be losing half...
I recently installed SUSE 11 and had sound working just fine on my Audigy2 value sound card. I mounted my XP drives and wanted to get some mp3 support so I installed real player, and a codec for amarok (both did not work). After testing a little bit I found that my sound did not work at all...
I am trying to listen to the outputs of two comptuers on one set of headphones. I just bought a f-m-m splitter but I get some nasy feedback when I plug it in. I also have a standard extension.
I have tried using both outputs of the computers and also output to line-in. Same results.

I used this site to help me with my final studies. There is a pdf in there which states the myths and truths of the test.
You definitely need to know your stuff inside and out. Take a few practice tests. I used Self-test and it was pretty much exactly like the actual test.

I think one of the requirements is a minimum of 4.82 cell phones over 3.14 years. Sorry, but I don't think you would qualify. Re-write your resu-kin and send it my way...I'll be sure to wipe my ass with it. Please use permanent markers, I wouldn't want the ink to bleed.
