A8N-SLI BIOS sent to me by Asus

Oh, and to add, I had just received my DiamondMax 10 drives and already there was updated firmware for them. So if your are more than 2-3 weeks old, the firmware has been has been updated already.

A8N-SLI BIOS sent to me by Asus

I was having the same issues with my DiamondMax 9 hard drives. I called Maxtor, they sent me 2 bios updates for the DiamondMax 9 and 1 for my new Diamond Max 10s. I would call them, then need some codes off the drives to make sure they send you the right firmware. Call them, its worth it...

Flashing the DM 9s worked. They have been running in RAID 0 for 12 hours so far with no lockups or disappearing acts. I'd call Maxtor and see if they'll send you the firmware for your drive.

Soltice, looks like the DiamondMax 10s are working great. I called Maxtor back anyway, though, and they sent me flash programs for my DiamondMax 9s! Can't belive it was that easy.... I'm flashing my HDs now, and will try them along side my new DM 10s and see if they are stable...

Really, I believe it is a chipset issue, not a driver issue. If it was a driver issue, my hard drives would show up every time at the bios screen, not intermitently. Probably something to do with wierd latencies or something. The DiamondMax 9 is a "Bridged" SATA drive. Meaning it was...

Last week I emailed Maxtor about firmware upgrades for the drives. I got a reply saying I should call in to their support desk. I did but after 30 min of waiting I hung up.

I not overclocking or doing anything that is different from known stable settings. I had removed my jumper from both drives also. I do remeber I bought these 2 DiamondMax 9s as soon as they were released so I probably have the first revision firmware. I'm just going to keep throwing $$$ at...

FYI: I have given up on the DiamondMax 9s. They drop or are not even found with all bios revisions with TWO different motherboards. I ordered 2 250 DiamondMax 10s. We'll see if this resolves the problem. I'm guessing those with no issues are not running the NVidia controller in a RAID...

1005.003 does something different. Even from 1005.001 When my board at first can not find the RAID array drives, it seems to try to restart teh drives, and then always can find them and boot. I'm having an issue in windows so I'm trying another format and reload of Win XP. It seems...

Actually, on DiamondMax 9s, there are jumpers. Other SATA might not have them but these were one of the first SATA drives made and they staill had jumpers. On Maxtor.com it states to remove all jumpers, though, for proper operation.

asus a8n-sli deluxe does not detect sata hd

There is no RAID jumper on a A8N SLI Delux. Its all in the bios. Kumala, you're having an issue thats been gone over b4 in this forum. It has not been resoved yet. I was told by ASUS tech to return my board....

HELP! My baby is sick.

grooge is right, you should check to make sure your RAID is still set to boot from the Hard Drive boot order list. When my motherboard freezes, if i reboot, I get the same error. My MB "looses" 1 or more of the RAID drives so it moves one of my other drives up in the boot order automaticaly...

NEW BIOS A8N-SLI Deluxe 1004 FINAL

Bios looks good so far. No lock ups as with privious bios, 1004.001 beta. It must be the new RAID Bios upgrader thats included with the final release.

1004 final is not the same as 1004 beta. I have confirmed 1004 final also includes version 4.81 of the NVRAID bios, which I think what is needed to resolve Maxtor issues. (hopefully it fixes my DiamondMax 9s) I installed it and no problems so far with my Maxtors. I'm gonna try to get my...

mysterious hardware yet to be installed

I've been running x64 for about a week. I'm goign to have to change back because of lack of software and driver support. The antivirus software available for WinXP x64 is really low, only one I found works, Avast! Antivirus. No other antivirus will run correctly. I tried server versions...

Clear your CMOS by unplugging the power, take battery out of mboard, switch CMOS Reset jumper, wait 10 min, put battery back in, put CMOS jumper back the way it was, plug power in. Give that a shot and let us know...

A question for people using the Silicon Image RAID chip (on a8n-sli for example)

I had no luck with that raid controller either. I switched back to the NVidia...at least on the NVidia I can almost predict when it will lock up on me....:(

I'm having issues with my DiamondMax 9s also. sharpsmart, u using that as a boot drive? and is it the DiamondMax 9(6Y*****0) model or a DiamondMax 16(4R****0) or DiamondMax 10(6B****0)?

Weird intermittent POST error on A8N-SLI

This only started happening to me after I enabled QFan in the bios. Disable QFAN or reduce the minimum RPM the MBoard looks 4.
