stock FSB is 200, going to 350 is a big jump for the components - might wanna increase gradually.
Also, what are your other Volts? e4300 should be able to do 2.1Ghz on stock V. But for 350FSB, you would have to increase volts on other stuff like FSB, MCH etc.
I keep referring people to...
For C2D, TAT is more accurate but Coretemp is more practical (sits on the tray).
I like to always monitor my temps so it works better for me.
I think we need a sticky for this one, far too many threads asking for which one is better...including mine ;)
I had the same discrepancy between CoreTemp and Speedfan.
Try Intel TAT (thermal analysis tool) http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/392/mirrors.php
This will prove that CoreTemp is more accurate, within +/- 2c.
Also try aiming for higher a FSB vs. higher multiplier for greater overall...
200 hours, thats good to know. I started ORTHOS and expected to see results in 10 mins - need to work on being patient!
I followed the guide on the AS website for C2D - they now recommend a thin straight line straight down the middle.
If not the eXtreme - is the standard 120 good enough?
OK - the AS5 did not make much of a difference, infact none at all (disappointing!)
Yes I am stock HSF right now - dont mind spending ~ $60 on the Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme but its out-of-stock everywhere!
Not all batches of the same CPU exhibit the same capability to OC, happens all the time.
In any case - try this article - its for the DS3 but also talks about how to approach OC'ing in an organized way.

Ok, I just got my first dual-core (E4400) this weekend but I have noticed something funky when using CPU-Z....
Try this:
1) Open CPU-Z
2) Run ORTHOS / Prime95 (or anything that loads your processor) --> Does CPU-Z tell you a different clock-speed now (multiplier jumps to 9) ??
Was the...
WinXP home.
I hv run Anti-Virus scans (McAfee) with latest updates as well as Adaware. If memory is the issue then why only happen with certain programs?....and btw...ignore my signature....im using a 700m.
I have been experiencing high cpu usage on my Dell 700m lately associated with the following programs:
- Bitcomet v0.63 (when running consumes ~ 20% and DPC consumption is ~40-60%)
- Any IM software (MSN Messenger/Yahoo/Skype/Googletalk) -- about 20-30% when general chat and about 60% when...
im new to OC'ing and was wondering how would the AGP/PCI lock lead to instability, for ex. would it lead to Prime95 instability (test # 1) ??....
My BIOS has a setting for AGP frequency, but its not a FSB divider...it just has values..and its @ 66Mhz rt now...will look for PCI freq. too.
ok guys...i just found ou that the problem was my PSU...i had POWMAX...which i just found out is a sh*t brand.....
about my RAM..no i dint just increase voltage cos its cool....i memtested it..and it was stable...so its def. not the ram thts causing it....
..just ordered the Sparkle 550w...
check my sig for the config.....I have tried everything.....better cooling....now im using an XP-120 with a 3700RPM delta fan pumping in 142CFM.....but the system just wouldnt go beyond 2210Mhz.
..any suggestions...?...could it be the PSU cos i have 400W rt now and 3 hard drives...or is that...
i got the xp-120 with a 120mm delta high performance fan (190CFM !!!)...
http://sidewindercomputers.com/delffb1212eh.html
supposedly its only available at sidewindercomputers.com....u guys shud check it out.....i hv also bought the vantec tornado for a system fan.
ok...i hv finally decided on the XP-120..could anyone suggest the best fan for it?....i dont want to use the panaflo....cos its not fast enough for me.
thanks.
but the thing is ... im not able to get any higher than 2.1 with 1.6v....i tried 2.15 but it was unstable...so i have to try more than that which will take the temps higher.
