I finally decided that I was getting no where with trying to diagnose this myself. I'm RMA'ing it all a piece at a time starting with memory. At the very least I'll have fresh new (like new?) components.

*spell checked after coffee kicked in* Its the Value RAM. One on ASUS's list of certified memory for that board. I'll check and see if Kingston is cool enough to send me the Memory ahead of time. I had RMA'd 2 sticks with Geil once. I had to send it in first.

Thats a good suggestion NZgoon. Much appreciated. But I had already tried that out when I had my Sapphire 9600XT card in this system with no go. It didn't help in this case either.

When I initially got the errors I thought "AH HA!, It IS memory". Then I tested each stick by itself, in slot 1, and received no errors. Then I stuck in both sticks (slot 1 & 2) with no errors. I won't deny that it's a memory issue. But I'm supposing the only way to confirm that it is the...

I monitored everything. I don't see anything out of the ordinary. I decided to try the memory again. I swapped the slots on 1/3 and still got reboots. I ran memtest with both chips. It threw an error at Step 5 after the 3rd pass. I moved chip in slot 3 to 2 and got errors again on step 5...

Board has been updated to BIOS 1009. I plan on try running Asus probes logging feature and log the 12v and 3.3v rails, do a bit of intensive gaming to check for any signs of low rail voltage or a sudden dip, 12v powers the Cpu and video card, 3.3v powers the memory amongst other things. I may...

I'll try the 3-4-5-9 route then. After the 1004 & 1005 versions, no special instructions in the download page for the K8V Deluxe were added. Its a shame ASUS tech support won't reply to my emails and online requests.
