Motherboard testing?

Thanks for both of the replies. I tested my RAM with my hard drive diagnostic utility, as it has an option to run a test on system memory. Is there another program I could be running for this? Also I'll try the Prime95 to see what it does and try to grab info from the next blue screen.

HP Photosmat 8050 $49.99

My first hot deal post, so be gentle.... Just picked up a Photosmart 8050 from my local staples for 53 and change after tax. Most prices online looked around $100 or so... I'm in the Southern CA area fyi. But check your local staples, sales rep said sale last until the end of the week.

Dead HDD?

Thanks for the reply. The mfg did not have any tools that I found outside of diagnostic utilities (its a Seagate HDD). I tried to delete the partion and create a new one with no luck. I'll try the GetDataBack when I get home this evening, my only fear is that the HDD has to be in some valid...

True, but I have an IDE more or less just laying around. I was just wondering if it was worth buying a SATA for the job, $50 ain't much, but is it necessary?

I was planning on installing a hard drive in my system that would hold only the OS (for easier re-installs in case windows stops working). Does the interface matter that much for the OS? Should I go SATA or go cheaper with IDE? Thanks in advance for any insight.

Curious Cell Phone question

Windows xp restarting every night

Since I installed some new hardware in my PC, i.e. a new video card. Windows XP has been restarting itself every night. Automatic updates are off and all my devices are working properly and have all the up to date drivers. Any idea of what may be doing this? I'm pretty sure is not spyware...

Grub with Ubuntu 5.04

I want to be able to choose where I want Grub installed as i install Ubuntu. i.e. I do not want grub installed on the MBR but rather on a bootable partition, for dual booting purposes. Any thoughts on exactly how this may be accomplished? Much thanks in advance

Nevermind, i found it

I did a search on here and on google, but for some reason could not find what I was looking for. I remeber reading about a program that would create a CD that was a self contained windows environment...if that makes any sense. Basically it let you run windows from a cd, much like a linux...

Dual Channel

Sorry for being a n00b, but for mobo's that support Dual Channel does the memory have to come in a Dual Channel kit, or can I just use two pieces of ram... the mem i'm thinking of is this. Can i just buy two of these and run them in Dual Channel? Thanks in advance
