    Really? On Quake 4? I wouldn't think Q4 is that RAM intense compared to, say, Crysis. How are you measuring the RAM usage during game play? I usually play the game on one screen and the other screen would display the task manager.

    The most RAM usage I've seen on my system BEING USED is like 1.2GBs when I was playing the game, Prey. I've tried to open up few dozens of Photoshop and firefox pages, but that really doesn't budge the RAM usage. Nothinman, please explain further.

    For Crysis, go with the better video card. The quad will have no or very little effect on your gaming experience.

    do a repair install. You want to d/l the drive to the NIC (ethernet port) on your mobo if you don't have the mobo driver disc. If you have that, you'll be able to d/l everything else later. Repair works well and you don't have to reinstall all of the apps and such other than the service packs...

    Not that kind of isolation. You drop the cpu multi and then the memory divider low so you are testing the FSB. Once you get the FSB, up your memory divider, increase FSB to get the max RAM. Then you can increase cpu multi to max and find the max on the cpu.

    What are your memory defaults? 800 5-5-5-15? I would lower the PCIe to 100- 102. Try upping the cpu voltage (Max 1.5V) to see if that helps. If you don't know how to isolate each of the components to test each of the limits, you are not a overclocker.

    I've never heard of a Core 2 Duo, let alone a e4300, clock lower than 2.7GHz. He should be fine with going straight to 266. This isn't the socket 939 AMD, ya know.

    3.0GHz aren't even guaranteed with the e4xxx series. My e4300 is only good to 2.8GHz and e4400 won't clock any higher than the results of e4300's.

    No reason to go e4400. Stick with the e4300 since you only need 300MHz FSB to reach 2.7GHz (which can be obtained at stock cpu voltage for most). Why pay for the extra multiplier when one isn't needed?

    I'd say anything 1.5V and under is perfectly safe. Some go up to 1.6V and don't hear troubles with that but that's too high, IMO.

    I'll take a more careful look in the bios for the fan control. I've tried Speed Fan and the mobo and cpu readings were switched around. I tried Everest Home and the CPU readings didn't even show up. I guess if my cpufan socket is dead, this has to go back.
