Best noise cancelling headphones?

Have you tried In Ear Monitors? They work better than Noise Cancelling headphones by blocking the ear-canal. Some block more than others, and there are hundreds of models from sub $100 to $1000+ to suit your musical taste and budget.

UPS for Powermac Quad

I need to get a UPS for my powermac G5 quad. Any ideas how many watts is safe for this desktop? I'll be connecting a 20" Cinema display, as well as a powerbook laptop to the same UPS. Thanks.

Mouse not moving smoothly on Apple Powerbook

Sometimes after a restart, the mouse is normal again.. really annoying. I really dont' think it's a mouse/pad problem, cause the same mouse/pad combo works flawless in my window machines.

LaCie Bigger Disk Extreme 1TB

Anybody have any experience with the LaCie disks? How reliable are they? I'm thinking of getting a 1TB disk. I wonder if they use a single 1TB disk in the enclosure, or several. Would it make sense to create two different partitions on a single physical disk, to attempt to create cheap...

What happened was I removed the laptop battery to install an Airport Express card. Maybe I took out the battery for too long, but settings got reset and stuff. Suddenly the login password was different, and I can't login. So I put in the apple CD and changed the login password. What happens is...

Backup Solution for Photography Studio

It seems Fred Langa's article is no more sophisticated than what we're doing right now... very manual. I'm thinking of something more automatic, so we don't have to currently remind ourself to backup our stuff. That can be very unmanageable in a busy office.

DVI LCDs?

The DVI LCDs seem to be a lot nicer than the regular ones. However I am told that not only you need a DVI ready video card, but also the maximum resolution is not very high on these. What exactly are the benefits of DVI?

ribbon, is there a particular reason that you recommend that specific flavor opteron, or is anything opteron pretty much good? Also, what about the dual core stuff? Will they be here soon, and should I wait for them? Theoratically 1xdual core = 2x single core? That means 2xdual core = fast? :)

The G5s have 1MB L2 I believe, and I always like the way Mac OS handles color management. However, a G5 does get very expensive, very quick. A Single processor G5 wouldn't be that much faster from my current 2300Mhz Athlon I believe.

Right now we're using an Athlon running at 2300MHz, overclocked. I think it was the Barton model, can't remember exactly. Memory is value Kingston, only 512 MB. Motherboard is Via KT266 or something like that. We're using this system 100% for Photoshop, and it's a pretty SLOW machine on WinXP...

TINY Terminal Window in OSX

Anybody ever had this problem before? I try to open up Terminal, and it opens in a ~10x10 pixel window! I can't see anything but the red "X" button.

Need a name for a brand

I've been brainstorming with no luck.. This is going to be a photography company. Small volume, A+ clients photography. Need to project an image like Prada or Hermes is to fashion. Basically we want to look very very exclusive. A little modern artsy image is good too. Wanna try? :)

wow. I decided to get the KT600, cause the nForce is like $40 more expensive. Anyway, so the total cost of the upgrade was like $220 for a Barton 2600, 512 Kingston Value ram PC3200 (somehow I get korean Hynix chips. should be quite good), and Via KT600 Elite, and some cheap no brand heatsink...

I got the belkin, and not only slow, it's very fragile. it broke within one week of buying it. Now, can't anyone write a firmware that'll allow direct download from camera -> ipod?

Well, first just about all the external DVD burners I've seen only says "for windows" on the box. I wonder if there's going to be any drivers problem on OSX10.3. Other than that, what should I look for? So far I've seen Iomega and Sony. The Iomega is $100 cheaper (4X vs 8X) - which is good...

iTunes User!

I noticed today that iTunes no longer can convert my CD tracks to MP3s, instead they use the AAC format. YUCK!!! This is weird, cause I didn't install any patch or upgrade or anything. It seemed like iTunes connected itself to the internet and changed this?? I don't follow digital music...
