Xp Install Gone Bad.

well i have a knoppix disk here...a pretty old one....what exactly do i do to combine these programs and how do i got about fixing my MBR?(is that what i need to fix?) also which copy of TestDisk do i download?...the Linux one...or the Linux RPM or SRPM..or what?...i am really quite a noob...

Xp Install Gone Bad.

Well i was fooling around with dual booting Windows XP and Mac OSX 10.4.8....and ended up screwing up my MBR and boot.ini file beyond repair...so i decided to give up and just reinstall a fresh copy of XP. well that was all good i got it installed and back up to par...when i started to notice...

well is it really better? i mean the specs are pretty much the same...except its gunna cost me $20-$25 more to keep the Asus board then to ship it back and get the gigabyte. THNX Duggy

ok well i bought a whole new system...which included a Pentium D 930 and a Asus P5LD2 motherboard....well after long nights i have found out my BIOS needs updateing in order to support this CPU....and the price ot get a new chip from Asus is $20....well i can ship my motherboard back and...

Computer does not post, just beeps

chances are your motherboard does not support your CPU and will need a BIOS update to do so....in order to do the update your going to either need to do a Hot Flash....or throw an older CPU in there do the BIOS update then put your original CPU in. THNX Duggy

well after reading and getting responses in a few places it seems my motherboard may need a BIOS update in order to handle my 930 CPU....now the only problem is how do i update it if i can not get it to POST? THNX Duggy

hmm nope i have triple checked those....i even took the motherboard out and took out a couple motherboard standoffs thinking maybe it was shorting something and also just to try and reinstall everything... this really has me stumped becuase i dont even know what to RMA anymore... THNX Duggy

well after taking the videocard out and having a closer look at the pins i noticed on the back side that one of the pins is shorter then all the rest....is it suppose ot be this way? its the pin closest to the mounting brack and on the backside...its hard ot tell but it looks like half of the...

no i got spare nothing...except optical and HD...all the rest is above all my current systems...its 775,PCI-E and DDR2...all mine is 478,AGP and DDR i got a spare PSU but i dont even want to plug it into this high end system becuase its really really low quality and i dont want to risk frying...

no thats the problem..:(...this system is newer then the other 3 in my house...its 775 and has PCI-E all the rest of the cards around the house are AGP and sockets are 478 hmm anything else i could try? THNX Duggy

wow that was way over my head:P.....as for the username and pass how come i have never had to do this before? also im gunna have to go with the other way bcuase i cant change the username and pass on the other computer since it isnt mine. so can you explain further on this other way please...

well i looked at what EFS is and checked to see if it was on and it wasnt...so i turned it on to see what happens and it actaully turned the folders font green...which i am gussing means encrypted....but i still dont know what blue means and i still cant cut/copy/paste... HMM any other ideas...

ok well ive had this problem for a bit now but i have never worried to much about it but now i gotta fix it.....well first the main thing is for some reason i cant cut/copy/paste stuff i click cut and go to paste on another computer on the netowork or on the local disk and i get a Access Denied...

hmm odd.....i know this baby is old...but so far it has taken anything i threw at it...i even have a cd with a crack in it and it read it:D.....guess maybe its time for a new one..i am gunna go pull a new drive out of my dads computer(dvd burner) he just got and see what happens THNX Duggy

CD-ROm to ISO problems

ok well i got Gun(the game) for x-mas and have been playing it forawhile now...but my Cd-ROm is REALLY loud and gets annoying sometime while i am playing.....so i thought i would just create a .ISO of it so i didnt have to have the CD in to run it....but when i use WinISO to try and create a ISO...

Which do you think will perform better in gaming?

ok well in that case ill just go with theintel( i am an intel guy anyway) the only thing that was dragging me to the AMD side was the SLI.....hmm and i would build my own(usally do) but even i cant build a system that good for that cheap....i dont think THNX Duggy

ok i got 2 systems here and i am considering buying one....i might be selling my old system and getting one of these two i am wondering which is gunna be better performace wise(gaming mainly)...and please AMD fanboys and Intel Fanboys dont battle it out here.....i will also be doing work on this...

TeamSpeak and Logitech MX510 not cooperating!!

ok well i went to setup teamspeak today along with my new Logitech MX510....and if you know the MX510 youll know it has 2 buttons on the side mainly used for Forward & Back.....now i am used to having a side button as my Push To Talk key....and for some reason this does not work....when...

well i tried the driver from the asus website and i got the same problem...and yes i deleted the old driver first if u were gunna ask that! i guess ill have to go with the cheapo soundcard....thanks neways guys THNX Duggy

i have tried a heaset some old earphones and a set of speakers...none of them worked...i got no exclamation point anywhere...i installed the driver from the CD that came with the mobo...i am using windows XP pro the only things i havent tried is getting a new driver from the ASUS site and...

well i have tried all of those....and soundmax(the drievr i use) doesnt say anything is wrong....it appears to all be working correctley....i even tried plugging the fonrt panel ones in VIA the little black pins....and i get the same results NO SOUND....not even varying fuzz or anything...

ok well i just finished helping my friend put together his new system...ths parts arent new but have been run together before...its a p4 2.8c and 512mb ram and an Asus P4P800 Deluxe motherboard.....now for some reason we got no sound...we installed the soundmax driver and it doesnt show that...
