Besides being widescreen, is there any reason why I should switch from 2001fp to 2005fwp

The black level on the 2005 is much better than that of the 2001 also!

gustep, which settings did you change from default on that menu? I'm a bit scared of fiddling with that tbh :P Btw, did anybody find that their screens arrived calibrated with a bias towards green (the sRGB setting)?

Koitsu, I've got another suggestion for ya... Something I just remembered. These screens are indeed very different beasts (one being a PVA and the other an S-IPS) and thus need configuring in different ways. You should use the sRGB values on both screens as an indicator for the optimum...

As I haven't ever used that card, I can't swear it will. But common sense dictates that it will have no problem running at 1920x1200. I'm sure there's plenty of cards that will also work with the 2405FPW that Dell aren't even aware of. As the eVGA card you're refering to is one of the latest...

Also, for those looking at both screens... The 2405 absolutely DWARFS the 2005. When it comes to impressiveness, there's no doubt is is the daddy. Not only that, but the component input makes it extremely attractive, as does the 1080i/p support.

Dell 2405 FPW ... what am I missing?

By the way, the same goes for all of Dell's latest models of TFTs IIRC. The 1800FP, 1905FP, 2001FP and 2005FPW are all 8-bit panels I believe. Though they are S-IPS panels, whereas the 2405FPW is the only PVA one.

Er wait... No, the 2405FPW is an 8-bit PVA screen. You're confusing it with 6-bit TN+ panels.

slatr, what screen have you come from using prior to owning the 2405FPW? I've been using a 2001FP for the last 8 months and then a 2005FPW for the last few weeks, and am very happy with them, especially in games. The "hardcore gamer" comment you make - could that be applied to just about ANY lcd?

I agree with the default colour settings being different, but I'm not so sure that the 2405 CAN be altered to match the 2005FPW. Not according to Riptide in the 2405 thread on HardOCP anyway. He seems to think you can make alterations, but you can't get rid of the washed-out look. I would...

Also, darksword... When you refer to sharpness settings and colour saturation, are they specific to component/s-video inputs? (i.e. they don't come into play when using the DVI connection)
