I've decided on going with the CUSL2-C. It's got good reviews from the people here and it's great for overclocking. I'll be purchasing it next week. Thanks to all you guys that helped out with your opinions. It's much appreciated. :)

I'm pretty sure that it's my vid card (elsa gladiac) that craps out on my. I stuck my old v3 3000 pci card and was able to get to 146fsb (cpu won't take more than that) vs. on 136fsb on the agp and even then I have to use agp1x.
I've made up my mind to change the board (still not sure...
I've heard good things about the MSI board. Do you know if it has jumpless fsb settings and voltage (ie. change it in the bios)?
How well have you guys been able to overclock on the MSI board?
I really don't want to use a BX Chipset now. I'm trying to get to higher bounds with my o/c'ing but the 2/3 agp divider won't cut it anymore. I can get my geforce2 upto 136fsb with a 2/3 divider but i can't get it stable any higher. i'm hoping something with the 1/2 divider will help.
I don't want to go the BX route. I have a be6-II right now. It's ok but I'm looking for something with built in supprt for udma66 or greater. Don't like the highpoint controller on board and stuff. Gives me problems with certain things.
how big is the performance difference between the...
I'm getting a new MB for my p3 700 fcpga. I was wondering first what type I should get ... i815EP or VIA Apollo Pro 133A? Also which board in particular? Any thoughts are appreciated.
I'm in the market for a new vid card. Since I want good performance and I want the twin view I'm going for an MX. I have an overclocked BX board so my agp bus runs quite high (2/3 divider at 136fsb). I want to make sure that it can handle the high bus before I get it. I figure most should...
First off does it work when it's not overclocked. It's a dumb question but let's make sure that it does work but just not when overclocked.
It could be the vid card only because it doesn't seem to crash in non-3d apps. But it your running 100fsb and your agp bus is normal(66) then it...
I have the latest drivers for the udma66 controller v1.25 and it's a udma66 hdd so I don't think that should be a problem.
Does anyone else have this problem or running 2k on a be6-2?
I try to install updates to win2k and I get Windows File Protection messages in my event log. Also it says that it cannot copy some file (changes eveytime) eventhough it's pointing to the right directory. It ends up bringing up an error and trys to revert and then comes up with the same...
I'm having some problems with my udma66 controller on my be6-2. I ocassionally get errors/warnings like this
The device, \Device\Scsi\HPT3661, did not respond within the timeout period.
Is there someway to extend the timeout period or has anyone found a solution for it. Any help is appreciated.
I had the exact same problem. It got to the point that my system became unuseable and I had to migrate back to 98 because of it. Did you have other problems too like lock ups and such (explorer.exe crashing all the time)?
p.s. how do you subscribe to a thread? There used to be a checkbox...
Whatever you do don't install the beta drivers from aureal. It takes a lot work to get them to work and it's a HUGE pain in the ass. When you install win2k it should install drivers that come with win2k. I had that with my win2k and MX300.
I know that there is no native support for NTFS for Win9x systems. I don't need to install an NTFS partition either. I need to pull some data off a HDD that had an NTFS partition on it. I remember that there is a third party that wrote some software to support r/w for an NTFS partition in a...
Hehe,
You have kinda the same problem I do. I had a win2k box and I swapped out the proc/mb. Now I could no longer boot. I get an INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE error. Everytime. Funny thing is I thought that my boot.ini files was messed up so I installed win2k in temporary directory to get it...
The Soyo 7VCA won't work. The CPU fan connector is in the way of the fan of the pep66 (when it's side ways that is ... unless there is a way to change it to put it on top ;) ) My friend has a 7VCA and it only had 2 fan connectors on the board.
I bought a pep66/peltier and it took up 2 slots on mybe6-2. I'm looking for a new MB that will o/c well and that my pep66/peltier will not block anything. Any suggestions?
I had a perfectly running installation of Win2k on my K6-2 366. I had an extra 566 Celeron lying around so I bought a new MB (Soyo 7VCA). After switching motherboards I can no longer boot into 2K. I recieve a "Ntldr is missing" message. I just figured that it was corrupt so I made...
My system specs are
p3 700 @ 933
256 MB PC133 Cas2 (128MB Micron + 128MB Mushkin Highperformance PC133)
Abit Be6-2
When I ran a memory benchmark in Sandra 2k I got CRAPPY scores compared to the reference systems that were also listed. ALU 199 mb/s FPU 213 mb/s. I ran it a couple of times and...
These are the HDD I've had and the problems I've had with them. This goes back to I think 1996.
4.3 GB Seagate (Just died without warning)
5.4 GB Maxtor (had some data corruption problems)
10.2 GB Quantum Fireball (worked best of all the ones I've ever had but got no ATA66 :( )
20 GB Maxtor...
I'm wondering what the best quality hard drive is. Requirement for good quality is that if you bump it accidently it doesn't screw up or if you move your computer around the HDD doesn't stop working.
I have a Maxtor that has been giving me problems ever since I moved. A friend of mine had...
What are you cooling your chip with? I also have a week 22 and I can get it to 142 fsb (don't remember the cpu speed at that fsb). I do have to 1.9v into it to get it there. I'm happy running at 933 right now with a gorb at 1.8v. I'm waiting on my alpha peltier combo and then I will try the...
Well as it turns out I was only adjusting the voltage in my bios. When I set the voltage on my slocket to 1.65 all is well ... kinda. Still get some explorer crashes but nothing close to what I was recieving before when the slocket voltage was set to 1.85 and I used the bios to move it to...
When I first got the chip, I put it in my board stock hs/fan 1.65V 100fsb. Worked fine for the 3 weeks I left it at that.
I put on an extra gorb that I had for my c2 566 that I'm not using w/ silver thermal grease on my 700 and o/c'd it to 933 at 1.85 V. No problems.
Now when I try to put...
I have a p3 700. I was running it a default voltage and speed because I'm waiting on my peltier/alpha to arrive. Well I decided to give o/c a shot and tried to get it to 933. I finally got it stable at 933/1.85v. Not stellar but decent. Hoping to push the voltage down to 1.8 or 1.75 when...
RealScud,
Have you tried just having your HDD attached without having either of your CD-ROM drives attached. I used to get compatibility issues with my HDD and my CDRW (Mitsumi 4801TE i think) where it would find the HDD one time and the CDRW drive another time. Try just having your HDD...
syborg1211:
Glad to hear your geforce is working. Abit gave me some email about getting the board to work at 133mhz. by setting the video options down. Maybe you tweaked some of the settings in your bios down. If you start having instability problems with your geforce in games try turning...
syborg,
did you try the trick setting agp transfer mode to normal instead of default in the softmenu screen in the bios? It worked for me on my old p3 450 to get to 142fsb.
Has anyone else heard it and is it true?? I've only just touched the surface o/cing my new p3 700 (waiting on pep66 peltier) but I wanted to know how other people with week 22 cpus have done?
Does anyone know of a pogram that test the stability and integreity of RAM? Something past just running appz on my computer but something that is designed specifically to test the ram. Oh, it'd help if it was free. :)
If there isn't a viable solution for that what applications are very...
syborg,
I don't think 1.9 hurts too much. I ran my c566@952 at 1.95v for a couple of months. Never had problems with it. Just had to keep the temps down.
what sort of cooling are you using on your p3 700. I have p3 700 but I've only made a brief venture into o/c'ing (waiting on my...
Question is the message title.
I have some PC100 8ns ram and I was wondering how high it could possibly go. I've taken it all the way to 124mhz. What is it really supposed do? I know it's PC100 that means it's supposed to run at 100mhz but I've seen PC100 ram with 7.5ns chips? So what...
What type of abit motherboard do you have? I have a BE6-2. On my baord get my video more stable ipast 124 FSB you need to have the latest bios flash, and in the Soft Menu set the AGP transfer to normal (force it to run at 1x instead of 2x). That should help some. I have TNT2 Ultra.
Wiz,
Bumping the voltage on the Abit Slocket!!! also works for getting the higher voltage range in the bios. I've tried with my cel 566@ 850 on my BE6-II with Abit Slocket!!!
