I see PartsPC is advertising it as having firewire when this board does not! I did get a mail from Mesh yesterday saying that due to the volume of mails they could not reply and that I could phone them.....well at least we know know, and how they plan to get around it (by adding a firewire...

I have to admit that the CPU coolers look like the Zalmans, i.e. the design, but the fins are wavey rather than straight so in the wavey design there is far more surface for the cooling process etc (plus the whole thing is bigger). I used to use Zalman fans with the resistor (as without they...

Personally I have ditched Zalman, SilentX products are by far quieter. Unfortunately they have not got around to doing chipsets or graphics but I am sure it will not be long before they do.

The Gigabyte GA-K8N Ultra-9 appears to be passively cooled whilst the Chaintech was, but then the later revisions were changed after a 'bad' review (reviewed O/C's to death the board then blamed the passive heatsink) I agree though that I doubt we will see this board, the hype has been around...

Ahh its the GA-K8NXP-9 that has the daughter board power thingy. This board shows its active though the feature set is identical to the GA-K8N Ultra-9. Has anyone used the GA-K8N Ultra-9 to confirm if it is passive? Mark

Wasnt this the board that was discussed earlier in this thread? On one picture it showed passive cooling, then on another it was active? The overclockers picture shows it as active. It is though well priced. Myself, I have never had any problems with Gigabyte boards.... Also this board...

Yeah the premium has sparked my interest now, but will the premium be uh humm at a premium?! I note the chipset being at 45 degrees to the normal square to the board alignment, that should make it even better for swapping out the fan with the Zalman. On the subject of the Zalman, I hate it...

Why dont you look at the Asus A8V-E Deluxe + Zalman. This has the same spec as Abit AX8 plus wifi? I have to admit maybe I might go this way as well, I mean how long is it going to be until the new SATA disks come out? Our mobos will probably be out of date before we see these.... Mark

:) Oh yeah forgot about that! To change the subject.....what is the second best choice, bearing in mind blocking of PCI-E slot by Zalman etc etc. If there are issue with Asus SLI which we know clears the slot what alternatives do with have with the active boards. No one has mentioned...
