I have a strange problem.
If I plug my computer straight to the broadband modem, the internet works fine and I get a green light on the back of my network card. However, I need to share the internet connection with another computer. I have a d-link 604 router that works just great with my...
Correct Gagan.
While I have played around with o'cing in the past, I don't really care to get squeeze the last few drops of performance from my machine at the cost of reducing the lifetime of the parts.
If it plays my games with a fluid framerate then I don't need anymore performance...
So get an SLI motherboard but only use one video card?
Doesn't that seem a bit strange?
I know he said for "GPU LONGEVITY", but I don't see how the GPU lives longer in an SLI board as opposed to an Ultra board.
Anyone care to explain?
I'm building a new gaming rig next month.
I am going dual core regardless just because I'm a geek and looking forward to owning one. Probably going with the AMD 4200+ X2.
My question to you is whether or not I get a motherboard that supports SLI or not. Please let me know what you think...
So I'm in the market for an AMD machine.
Haven't decided on single core or dual core yet.
It will be primarily used for gaming.
I see the Venice and the San Diego core are out in full force.
What core do you guys recommend... and more importantly... why?
Yah yah yah.
Let's just face it that games are really never going to have *HUGE* gains in performance from a dual core CPU system. Even if the application is designed to use many threads, games by nature follow a single threaded execution path.
Think about it. You're playing HL2, you...
Yay a gold star for me!!
My first gold star.
Today must be my lucky day hahaha.
I have also read that having 2 CPU's can slow down some games... which I'm wondering about. I know it is possible in Windows to tell a program to "BIND" to one CPU only. This should get it back to the same...
mdchesne,
You are VERY confused I can tell.
You are assuming that your HTT multiplier and your CPU multiplier are the same thing!
It's not the case.
You have Corsair Value RAM according to your profile, set a very low RAM divider and up your HTT until your CPU chokes so that you...
What does everyone think about the results posted by Anandtech regarding dual core?
Not sure if there are any huge benefits regarding the typical gamer PC.
I'll probably stay away from it for a couple of years until it may become viable.
That's just it though
I think most people know that they cannot multitask 2 CPU intensive programs because of the fact we only have 1 CPU. We usually run one and turn the other one off.
We will be able to do this now.
It'll help me out for sure. I do alot of computer simulation...
They are also shipping free hammers with the CPU.
These hammers can be used in conjunction with red marker.
The red marker is used to draw an X on the CPU.
Then the hammer is taken in hand and is used to aim at the red X.
SMASH!!!
You could also hit your computer with a hammer.
I would suggest taking the case off and looking for the CPU.
Draw a big red X with marker where the CPU is.
AIM THERE!!!
That'll fix er' up nice nice.
Yes.
Just make sure the drive with the operating system on it is the primary drive and you should be good to go.
Your BIOS should already be setup to boot from the HD somewhere in the boot sequence.
If you are talking about a desktop computer, then it makes no difference really if you keep it on the OS partition.
Now, if you are talking a server environment... then a different disk is recommended. Especially if the server has 2 GB of RAM or more.... since the paging file will need to...
The two chips differ more than just the criteria you suggest. Have you ever looked at core design for a CPU? No one is saying which one is the more "cost effective" chip... my discussion with you was trying to compare two chips solely by their speed (MHZ).
An AMD Sempron 3000+ is $96 right...
Why are there so many people that think it's all about MHZ and that is all.
The Sempron and the A64 cannot be compared by subtracting their MHZ numbers and then saying which one is better. There is something to be said for chip design.
The Sempron is inferior to the A64.
I have read great reviews about the Crucial Ballistix DDR400 RAM on this website.
Anyone have any opinions on how good the DDR500 Ballistix RAM is??
Just curious if it's worth looking into, or if I should just get the DDR400 stuff.
Thanks!
Anything that requires pinpoint precision mouse movements is definitely going to suck with a joystick. I'd stay with the keyboard+mouse if you want to be competitive.
This makes no sense.
Just because you have 2 CPUs doesn't mean the game will run smooth. You'll have apache and your database all competing for I/O. Not a good thing.
You'd have to shut er down to play any game that involves 3D.
