Heat Gun Power?

Asus Z87 External Temp Display?

I'm looking at buying one of the Asus Z87 motherboards for my new setup. I know you can see the temps in the BIOS or via AI Suite (?) but it would be much nicer if I could attach something to the motherboard that could sit externally to give me accurate up to date internal temps? :confused:

Weird Laptop Motherboard charging query

Fair enough..... To clarify, there have been NO lights on at any time, regardless of what I've tried so far, and I was wondering if the CPU was potentially dead causing my issues. Would the charging light come on when external power was applied if the motherboard was working, but the CPU...

CorkyG, I'm confused with your answer. How do you know the charging circuit works? I've not said anything to indicate that. My original question has still not been answered though.... Also, I'm wondering if the DC power connector may be faulty (and the battery has clearly run out of power) ?

Totally zero in every way, i.e. no lights, no fans, nothing. I've also tried 3 different compatible AC adapters "just in case" with the same result.

Replacement LCD "changing colours" on startup!

Just an update.....I got a replacement LCD ribbon cable & inverter with no difference at all. :\ I then got yet another replacement LCD, but this time I made sure it was the EXACT same make/model as the original one and it works perfectly! :o Clearly, something on my 1st replacement was not...

No..if I re-install the old, cracked LCD, I can still see a small bit of the POST text on the non-broken part of the LCD on a black background with white text which is correct.

If it WAS somehow stuck in a test/calibration sequence, how do I go about correcting this??? D: Are there any small buttons/pins that could be changed on the back of the LCD in the "do not touch" area?

Total budget would be no more than £100 but I'm now quite confused having read these replies as some people say use a 25w and others say use a 40w+ and there have been other technical terms that I've not heard of, i.e. braid, desoldering wick, rosin

Cat 6 cables required?

I'm about to buy a gigabit router as all 3 of my home PCs support gigabit and I only have a standard 10/100 router at the moment. Do I require cat 6 cables to get the best from my network? I suppose I'm using cat 5 (or maybe cat 5e) at the moment.

Win XP Home with Pro Key!

Which one 8800GTX of the two would you get?

I e-mailed Gainward to ask them about whether their card has the HDCP crypto rom chip on their 8800GTX and they replied "No" A bit surprising seeing as most other companies seem to have this included. I'm also confused as to if this is possible seeing as all the card are supposed to be...

Geforce 8800GTX HDCP crypto?

I was considering the 8800GTX from Gainward, but their website says to contact the reseller for support, which doesn't help at all. :( Why don't they positively market if they have the crypto rom included? I need a 100% answer!

Some manufacturers mention HDCP in the info, but from memory, they also did so on the 7900GTX and these didn't have the crypto chip by default.

I've found out (I believe) that it's nvmctray.dll that is the file in question that starts the tray icon. So, I've tried running the following command which should work, but doesn't: RUNDLL32.EXE NvMcTray.dll,NvTaskbarInit This file throws up many replies in google with this string...

I've been looking very closely at the Enermax Liberty 500W model http://www.enermax.co.uk/products/psu/liberty/ELT500AWT/spec.asp It looks very good and has great reviews, but only gives out a total of 32A on the 12V rail...is this sufficient?
