Right now there is only one motherboard that will support Conroe on the market today and that is intel's i975XBX (bad axe). In the BIOS it has an override mode for "1333 FSB" which is what Conroe will use.

As a common rule most i955X chipsets max out at roughly 340 FSB and the i975x chipsets max at roughly 380-390 depedning upon voltage. That being said, the chipset will not limit anyone's progress to 4ghz as it clearly hasnt affected mine.

So far so good, overall the 920s clock the best out of the 9xx series (go figure). I have one of the better chips and a friend of mine has 4.4ghz stable on water. (4.6-4.8 benchable)...
At this point I am more interested to see the heat values of the newer cores. The TDP was supposedly dropped significantally with these cores and I hope the temps do as well. Hopefully down to the levels of an A64

Intel really needs either a Tejas capable CPU (5ghz+) or strong overclocks on Conroe (over 3.5) before people will really start to take interest in them again over current A64s.
Ive used alot of boards for DDR2/1 on Intel for my testing with mushkin. The only ones that are worth a damn are the P5WD2/P5LD2 for PCI-E and Abit's AS8 for AGP. Abit's AW8 and AL8 are pretty good as well but I prefer Asus over Abit in this instance.

To be honest now that ULI's M1695 chipset is out, I would go with that. It bears AGP and PCI-E. Right now it is sold out at the egg but it ought to be back in stock soon. So far Asrock is the only MFG who is using the chipset (more are expected to follow)
You need to run 2T in order to get it to boot. The other option would be to clear CMOS with all 4 dimms in position. The problem is that the settings used for 2 dimms on an A64 platform will cause a no POST situation with 4.
