Mac and PCs on the same router.

Out of curiosity, what router are you using? It's probably not very likely in this case, but if you're using a v5/v6 Linksys WRT54G, the 1.0.10 firmware breaks the router's DHCP server such that Macs can't connect properly.

Maxtor drive failure imminent?

Well, the first sign that something is terribly wrong with your drive is the big label on it that says "Maxtor." ;) Have you checked the S.M.A.R.T. status of the drive? That should be a good indicator for anything physically wrong with the drive itself.

Can someone recommend a good set of speakers?

The Swan M200 monitors have received a lot of praise. They're probably worth considering if you've got the room on your desk for them. Only 2.0, though, but that makes them more easily transportable.

I'll second going the A500 route if it fits your budget. As far as the Altec Lansings go, you should be able to use all the 3D effects with any regular headphone jack, since it's only got the one plug itself.

Good Keyboard/Mouse for MCE?

You'll need something that utilizes 2.4 GHz wireless communication to get that kind of range. Do not get anything that operates on 900 MHz RF, because you probably won't be able to get more than 6 ft away. Beyond that, I'm afraid I don't really have any advice. Logitech is always a safe bet...

The Logitech G1?

Well, I've got a G3, and I'd say it's the best Logitech gaming mouse I've ever used. The shape is pretty good (as you know), the buttons feel fine, and the extra sensitivity is really nice. I'd still pick my Razers over it, but the G3 is still a great mouse. If you find it on sale somewhere...

You owe it to yourself to listen to some Tragically Hip once you get those Grados burned in. Sounds incredible. Like I said before, though, the SR60s are a great choice for music; not so much for gaming. I think you probably would have been better off with the A-Ts for playing games.

Have you tried turning down the in-game sensitivity settings? Or, failing that, the sensitivity settings in SetPoint. Or, failing even that, the sensitivity settings in the Windows mouse properties? You have lots of options. Experiment with them.
