Vista needs CD/DVD driver for install? Please help

Turns out the Optical drives were connect to the onboard IDE RAID controller, not the standard IDE controller. Problem is now resolved.

Vista needs CD/DVD driver for install? Please help

I've attempted both the x86 and 64-bit installs. Both of my MD5 checksums are correct: 64 bit: e43502d0a15eadd551119d5639859e04 32 bit: 0e733ab1a8e8ff9a8684fd3639332773 So it's very likely something else is causing the problem.

Vista needs CD/DVD driver for install? Please help

Hi all. I've built a new system and intended to but vista on it, but ran into a problem. After clicking "Install Now", a message pops up asking for a CD/DVD-ROM device driver. This, of course, is odd since it obviously has no problem reading the device, since, you know, it booted from it...

    Inspiron 9300 Released

Thanks, Ethan. I finally got a response on the Dell boards about the issue that was basically the same thing you said. If you can, it'd be great to mention to your bosses that perhaps linking that partition through the BIOS, like your Diagnostics Partition, would be fantastic. To be honest with...

    Inspiron 9300 Released

Another question: Can anybody who has received theirs try to initiate a Factory Reset? Dell tells me that to do this I must hold down CTRL and press F11 when the system boots. For me, this does nothing. I'm wondering if it's just my system or all 9300s.

    Inspiron 9300 Released

I just got mine in. My wife is going to love it. Anybody know where the best deal is for 7200 drives? Any brand recommendations? Thanks.

    Inspiron 9300 Released

I'd appreciate some input on this: I'm looking at getting the 9300 for my wife for our anniversary. She doesn't need a whole lot of juice, but she wants a big screen and she wants to know that the thing will work for a few years. Her gaming requirements are quite sparse. She'll probably want...

An announcement for the SL-K8TPro-939 review by Mr. Fink

Thanks, Unaimed. That's the missing piece of my puzzle, methinks. The only other question I'd like to ask is if people would mind posting their voltage settings? I've read that 1.65 - 1.7 is the max you should put through a Winchester; I'm just curious as to what people with this board are...

An announcement for the SL-K8TPro-939 review by Mr. Fink

I just received this board and a 3000+ processor, along with some PQI DDR400 memory and a MSI 6600 GT. The board came with the newest BIOS on it and booted up just great. Windows installation took a little while longer than I would have liked, since the driver for the Promise RAID controller...

    ATTN: Soltek OC'ers!

I never know whether to put this type of thing in MoboLand or in The OC. I just picked up a K8TPro-939 board and 3000+ with some PQI memory. I've read that there are some problems wit the AGP/PCI lock on this board and that I need to do some lowering of ratios or somesuch to get a stable...

Internet slows down exponentially when router is REMOVED!?!?!?!

On my D-Link wireless router, the option is DNS Relay and it is under the LAN Settings tab. From my router's help file: "DNS Relay::: When DNS Relay is enabled, the router will play a role as DNS server that send request to ISP DNS server and cache the information for later access. When DNS...

What Monitoring/Burn-In Software Do I need?

My "light" system will also include two optical drives, four 7200RPM IDE drives, a 1394 PCI card and a (hangs head in shame) GeForce 5700. I thought that a 400W - 450W would do it, but in an article on PC3200 RAM and the Athlon64, the author mentions that a 520W PSU is recommended. So I thought...

What Monitoring/Burn-In Software Do I need?

I haven't done a major OC on a system since a Celeron 366>550. I've noticed that some things have changed since then. The components I just ordered from NewEgg are as follows: Retail Athlon64 3000+ (s939), Soltek SL-K8TPro-939, and 2x512MB PQI PC3200. I am, of course, hoping to get this...

Internet slows down exponentially when router is REMOVED!?!?!?!

It's possible that your old router was handling the DNS requests instead of your ISP and now the new one is. That would also explain why, when you connect your machine directly to the cable modem, it does the same thing. Just a thought....
