Worry not bro, 2x bandwidth will easily handle real world performance of a 4-8 port RAID setup. Having the 4x connector allows you to still fit a 4x card, and the 2x bandwidth will suffice.
New NForce4 WHQL certified standalone drivers (dated 3/17)!
I installed the 1.2 bios and now I'm downloading the drivers. I stability in my future, I sure hope so!!!
Here's the 411 from Nvidia:
Windows XP/2000 - nForce4 Standalone Kit (6.53)
Version: 6.53
Release Date: March 17...
It looks like the MSI Global site has the official (non-beta) 1.2 BIOs out for the NEO4 Platinum (non-SLI)
Here's what's new:
- Update NVMM version to 4.79.
- Support Maxtor 300 GB HDD.
- Update NVPXE version to 2.03.0469.
- Update NVRAID version to 4.81.
Here's the URL...
I was the confused one. I thought you said the SLI board was only $7 more than the non-SLI one, if it is go for it.
I thought you were saying:
NEO4 SLI-$187
NEO4 no SLI-$180
They both have decent onboard sound, but the SLI one has much better one onboard. Of course, you could add...
You can use anything greater than PC2700 (DDR333) with the board. PC3200 (DDR400) is in theory the max supported by AMD/Nvidia/MSI, but you can use faster RAM to overclock (or if you want, you can use faster RAM at stock DDR400 speeds). In general faster RAM can take the place of slower RAM...
Same here, does anyone know of any unofficial BIOSes (betas, or whatever else might be out there?)
I didn't do a complete reinstall, but that's my next step (the PSU is a new Ultra 600watt job). Others seem to have started fresh, and it all seems to work until people install the Nvida...
By default the board will show some lame pic while booting, but if you disable that (like 99% of folks do), it will show the usual memory being counted, processor type, and lastly (I believe after all the memory has been counted) the memory latencies, cycle delays, and whether or not you're in...
I've used the board for 3+ years,a nd its been an on and off struggle. It is quirky how you get into BIOs, but there isn't much to change there. The board needs to run on 2000 or XP Pro, else you loose the 2nd CPU. What's the problem?
It's the drivers. I have the same problems (now I cannot get either network port to work or my Audigy2), and it all started after the Nvidia driver install (in my case the latest NForce4 standalone driver). It's a Nvidia issue, not a MSI one, and I find it odd that the drivers include audio...
I originally bought the NEO2, but returned it in favor of the NEO4. Both have great features, and the NEO2 has some great reviews backing it up (the NEO4 is hard to read up on, especially the non-SLI version). I chose the NEO4 because it has PCI express, which is where all of the best deals...
I have the same problem. I got the blue screen with the same IRQ problem, then I downloaded the standalone driver from nvidia, and installed it. After rebooting, neither network port works. After playing UT2004, the system crashed, and now I cannot get sound (from my Soundblaster Augidy2...
