Also, if I do get the 1700X, I'll need a cooler too, since the vendors I have access to don't cary the 1700X with the cooler. So, suggestions for a relatively inexpensive cooler would be appreciated. If I overclock at all (and that's a big IF), it won't be much.

I do not have a specific need for X370, and for the 1700 build, I was considering a B350 board, but hadn't settled on a manufacturer yet. At this point, I'm still pretty apprehensive about running into issues with the BIOS and having to endure weeks of updates before the kinks are ironed out...

I don't do any virtualization or compiling. My CPU-heavy work is almost all in Adobe CC. I also stitch together drone photography into maps and 3D meshes on occasion, but those benchmarks (Agisoft Photoscan) seem close enough to not be much of a consideration when comparing the 1700 and 7700k...

First of all (and least of all), Price. After taking into account the cheaper motherboard, and included cooler on the 1700, the AMD-based build comes out to almost $100 cheaper, which honestly is a drop in the bucket, and not a huge concern. I'm a web developer, but also do a lot of graphics...

Sleep mode, chirping noise, wont wake up until PSU is discharged and powered back up

When my computer goes to sleep, after about 15 or 20 seconds, I hear an odd quiet chirping noise which I think is coming from my PSU. The noise is hard to explain, but it sounds kind of electrical in nature.. I don't know if you've ever heard the quiet chirp noise when the power finally...

New i7 Build - processor getting too hot

I cleaned off the thermal paste with 91% rubbing alcohol, let it dry, and then re-applied as per the directions on the arctic silver website for Core i7 processors. I assume that one of the heatsink pegs lifted off the motherboard the first time around, because the temperature looks fine...

New i7 Build - processor getting too hot

I just finished my first Core i7 build, and the processor is getting really hot really quickly.. do you folks think it's a bad CPU? Bad Motherboard? I start the computer after being off for hours, and by the time I can get into the BIOS to check the CPU temp, it's already up around 51...

Newegg RMA

I've never had anything take more than 3 business days to get from Newegg to me.. if it ships from NJ, I usually get it in 2 (I'm in Maine) As for their RMA process, I don't have any complaits. I've RMA'd PSU's, Motherboards, Processors, RAM... and it has always taken them 2 days or less...

Well, I can no longer get the artifacts to go away, even with the fan pointed into the case. I've tried re-seating the heatsink with new thermal compound, and played with the AGP Aperature settings in the BIOS, but nothing seems to fix it. I'll test the card in someone elses computer and...

It's true that the ventilation in her case is terrible, and I was going to add some case fans, but I got these results with the side completly off the case... It would baffle me to think that the card can't keep itself cool, even when just in normal desktoip apps with the side of the case...
