Artic cooling 7 pro rev2

I had a bad fan on a freezer 7, just e-mailed customer service and they sent a replacement by mail, had it in 3 days.

Windows Home Server: Antivirus Software

I use Avast. It installs into the WHS console without issue. If you have the proper license it can then install itself onto the client pc's. Scheduling of scans of all boxes can be handled from within the WHS console page. Its not free tho.

DOCSIS 3.0 Live in Jacksonville ?

There may be an add-on for disk management that reports the smart status on its console page but one which pops up on clients would be even better I agree.My favorite pet peeve tho still has to be access to mapped drives from a common management interface within the whs console. I have here, on...

I took a look at W7 and like what I saw, if WHS V2 is based on that I may consider purchasing. Maybe MS would consider some sort of licensing model for whs/w7 buyers that doesnt require people to buy a seperate copy of w7 for each client pc. After having to buy 5 oem copies of xp pro as well as...

Power consumption isn't much of a concern for me with this one as it normally runs only on the weekends anyway. Performance is of course and I know that the network speed limits me as for as backups go so thats not cpu dependant.I am interested in virtualisation but not to install whs as a guest...

What is the sweet spot today for whs best performance. I have a home made unit that started out with a p4 northwood and I have re-done it to now a 2.13 duel core e6400 with a p-35 mobo.Would this thing do any thing better if I were to go to a lower end quad core or a faster 2 core? It seems ok...

AT PSU roundup -- 500W to 550W: 12 Power Supplies Compared

But the BFG supply tested is not the same as the LS550 for sale at NewEgg. The photo of the decal on tested unit shows a single 12 volt rail while the one at NewEgg has 4 rails.Why the difference?I need a good stable ps for my whs box and am considering one of these.

WD 500 platter

I read that the new Western Digital 2Tb drive has 4 platter's making each one 500Gb. Have the 500Gb drives such as the 5000aaks been reworked into single platter configuration yet or when will this happen? Is that what they call their Cavilier Black drive?

I can comment on the anti-virus situation with WHS.About the only option you have is Avast and their whs version. I tried it myself in evaluation and liked it ok, it integrates into the console and if you have their pro version installed on your clients it can schedule scans on the whole system...

Crucial 4gb pc2-6400 BL2KIT25664AA80A reliable?

I have right here 4 sticks of ballistix 1Gb that will not run on either the Gigabyte p35-ds3r or ds3l. These boards hang at startup will not even allow me into bios setup to try anything with ram voltage or timing so as to get them to boot. I can drop in some old Corsair xms I have around and...

OEM coolers--your opinion

I purchase a gigabyte mobo last summer and picked up their 3d rocket cooler for use with it. It seems to work Ok, idle in the low 30's, and now I'm thinking of one of the Asus coolers for a P5Q board coming soon.Who's using these oem coolers, how do they compare with the aftermarket products...

Adding"Map Network Drive" to WHS console

My goal is to bring a list of all mapped drives into one common location that all computers can see.The whs console seems to be a good choice for that.However I would not add the mapped drives to the storage pool of whs. Map/disconnect drive radio buttons would be conveniant also.

turn wireless card into an fm transmitter

A reciever is not the same as a transmitter of course. There is an fm transmitter aavailable at http://www.ccrane.com/radios/fm-transmitters/index.aspx that connects to your headphone jack and may do what you want.

compatability ??

Im having power problems with an Asus P5B mobo and an older Antec 500W neo-power modular ps. The box runs WHS and wont shut down the fans/ 12V stuff from within windows.I have to hold in the power button to shut it off.Always needs several attempts to start it also.I read on new-egg customer...

Turn it off allready !!

This is Windows Home Server, based on svr 2002 sbs. The shutdown menu is the conventional windows. I dont think that its just going into standby or hibernate because the cpu fan is still going, tho the hard drives and video go off.Its like there's a c-mos switch on the mobo that isn't turning...

all I see running is the cpu fan and front panel power led. Power supply is an Antec 500 watt.I'm not sure if the cpu itself shuts down as the system is unresponsive to all input as its supposed to be when off.I've seen things like this before when bios had enabled things like modem wake on ring...

asus p5b mobo- c2d 4500, running windows home server.System will not shut down fully. Video goes off, sounds like hard drives park , but cpu fan remains powered. System is un-responsive at this time but why doesn't it just shut off completly?I've been thru the bios and power options in windows...

Computer won't boot, not even getting to post!

My p35-ds3r did the same thing and I had to rma it. I've also read other form posts about the same problem, always leads to rma of the mobo. I wonder if its the p-35 northbridge which is failing or something else.

My apologies to the OP, I didnt intend to hi-jack your thread, only to add to it.Your hardware setup should do fine, sounds like your using mostly new components.The folks on here that deal with"real" servers could add a lot to the subject of home server's using workstation/desktop/home computer...

I hadn't considered the video setup for this at all.Looking thru my junk all I have is a 6600gt and ,if I remember correctly, these ran kinda hot even just idleing along.I assume that WinHoSe has the same option to turn off the video after a specified lengh of time, in the screen saver power...

I have some of the same concerns for my home server but mine is based on older hardware. I will be using an Asus p4c-800e-deluxe mobo in a huge antec full tower case. I have 4 old ide hard drives totaling 900 gb but thats about all thats firm in my plans so far.I have a choice of 2.4 or 3.2...

New computer, please help me before I throw it on the pavement

The J-micron drivers for the gigabyte chip are on the mobo installation dvd, at least they are on mine.However you should try the Intel sata ports too. My raptor boot drive is on the intel southbridge on this p-35 ds3r , installing windows was no sweat although the raptor is sata 1 only.

GA-P35-DS3R keep power up and turns off

My first P35-ds3r did the same thing, I had to rma it. Took about a month but this replacement seems to be working Ok so far but its only been up for 2 weeks now.The first one I could remove everything but the processor and it would still cycle like that.I'm glad it wasnt the cpu that went bad.

Minor Issue with adding a New Box to Workgroup

The rv082 being the DHCP server, why would it be doing this on only one computer rather than all of them?I'll check on PXE, that boot prompt comes up every time but i've never messed with it or even looked at it.Other boxes here use the same model nic and I've never had to fool with that on...

a quick update, problem still present. I shut down/.powered down everything and it made no difference.all 10 boxes and the file server came back up and were reconised by the rv082 by their windows name except this one.Its still just new host with 2 IP addresses assigned to the same MAC.I figured...
