17" CRT, the screen is red, possible to fix it?

I did recently, lost the green on my crt, cleaned the vga connection, reseated the vid card, played with the cable. Finally replaced it with a used monitor. I suspect maybe a solder connection on the old monitor, and not worth messing with.

fans spin for 1 second then nothing...?

Have you tried disconnecting the floppy drive? Had the same thing happen a couple of weeks ago, bad drive apparently.

Is this a good lcd monitor?

I was going to buy a new one a while back and researched the heck out of it. All the reviews and specs led me to believe this was the best for the money, and with the Samsung name and warranty. Read the reviews on Newegg (don't know why the price difference) for the same monitor, no dead pixels...

Take out all your cards. The next step would be to make sure all your power and reset button connectors are plugged in properly, and all your mb jumpers are set in the correct place. This would require a mb manual. I'm assuming you still can't power up.

What to look for in a multimeter.

Scandisk not responding on d drive

Thanks Larry, I found an old seagate 1gb hd in my drawer and went ahead and replaced my existing wd drive. Everything is up and running fine now. Scandisk works and everything. Man how I miss that old clicking seagate :). At least now I can back up all my vital business data.

Scandisk not responding on d drive

Windows ME. Scandisk not working on my d drive. The drive itself is operable, but every time I boot scandisk tries to scan d drive to no avail. I either cancel, or ctl alt dlt to end task. Any suggestion? Hopefully soon I'll have a new hd and XP. Just trying to limp thru for now.

Earlier today I jiggled the connection and noticed some color flickering, so I pulled the vid card and used contact cleaner on the male and fm connections. Now when i move it I get nothing. Really strange how this comes and goes for no apparent reason. I even slapped the monitor up side the head...
