With the price of dvd-r media dropping I doubt you'll miss the HD Burn feature. I bought a Optorite in the middle of last year and have only used HD Burn a few times to test it on different media (not all cdr media is compatable).
Depending on shipping, this is the best price I've seen for this case. Normally sells for $50 and does not come with a PSU. I consider that a good thing because I'd rather add my own PSU then get some low grade generic PSU I'd never use.

Found in the Afterdawn forums that someone linked a updated Optorite dd0203 compatability list supposedly from optorite tawain. On the list the Ritek G03's are rated to work at 2x. I'm going to order a sample pack for my dd0203 drive.
I've had mine for a month so far and have burned about 15 dvd-r's fine so far. Haven't used the hd-burn feature yet as I need to find compatible media. I got mine from PCSupplysource (NJ). Punch in "dd0203" on pricewatch and you can find a code to get it for $129 shipped.:)
I had no luck finding the new $80 rebate (9/6/03 to 9/13/03) after calling the CUSA customer service line and emailing their rebate center. I got lucky and was able to return the opened drive without the restock fee to the store after speaking to the manager. Stupid bait and switch tactics....

Sold out. Actually 3 or 4 of these in with a SATA raid card in a raid 5 config would have been sweet. That would give you data redundancy, killer access speed, and fast throughput. Might get kinda loud and add to your electric bill however.
