ME TV looked right! but it turns out it doesnt support NTSC. Kaffeine doesnt seem to support NTSC either. still trying. TVTime supports NTSC, but it doesnt record or pause... anymore suggestions?

CPU Benchmark websites

i know AnandTech and Tom's Hardware have lots of CPUs listed. are there any other sites you guys use as reference? i recently discovered www.cpubenchmark.net which is very convenient. any other sites like it? btw, any benchmark would be good enough, even wPrime.

Outputing Non-Native resolution to HDTV

is it ok to output a 800p signal from a computer (a netbook, for instance) to a 1080p TV set (LCD or Plasma)? would that damage the TV or shorten its lifespan? i know it would result in blurry picture, but i dont mind that.

When i scan, should it be in regular or safe mode?

i read at Malwarebytes' forum that, because of the particular way its scan works, you should run it in Regular Mode. for any other malware apps you have, scan in Safe Mode.

Latest Avast 5 Beta 2 (5.0.221 Updated)

i have tried both Avast and AVG. i would recommend either over any paid antivirus solution. AVG, unfortunately, got a case of the "bloats" last year. still good, though. i have been using AntiVir for over a year and i recommend it to everyone. IMHO, the best of the 3 free AVs out there...

not sure if i understood you right, but i just checked the page for the IEnumerable class and there's no list of implementers on the bottom of the page. maybe this applies to some interfaces but not all.

do they? where is it listed? i can see all the interfaces implemented by a given class, but not the other way round? somewhere else someone recommened reflection as well... i dont even know what it is, so i'll assume Microsoft expects everyone to memorize all implementers for all interfaces....

i was instantiating a Generic List object today and learnt -- from the intellisense -- that the class' constructor has an overload that takes a Generic IEnumerable as argument. that is nice infor, but it could be more useful if i knew all classes that implement the aformentioned interface...

VMWare Workstation runs painfully slow

i have not tried VMWare Workstation yet, but i played with the Server edition for a while. i found it very slow on my Athlon XP 3000 1.5Gb RAM. on the other hand, the free VirtualBox runs very well on this particular machine. as a matter of fact, it runs smooth on my jurassic P3 700Mhz 640Mb RAM...

Windows Vista and 7 64 bit with more than 4 GB of ram and Hauppauge tv tuners

this a pretty old model.... i'm actually surprised it works with Win7. and i'm even more surprised it can be tweaked to work with 64-bit. when they engineered it, 64bit support wasnt a priority. maybe you should get one of the new Hi-Def models and watch HD over-the-air.

How do you set up your view of Windows?

i forgot to mention that when i tried Win7 beta, i chose "Xplorer2 Lite 1.7.2.2" as my Windows Explorer replacement. the day i abandon Win2K and WinXP, i'll definetely use Xplorer2. great file manager.

true. that's a great tip. the use of a Restricted User Account is the most effective way to stop viruses right at the door. however, i recommend the use of an antivirus software too. together, these 2 strategies make the system very hard to infect.
