Buliding a case from scratch - Question about motherboards

shouldn't be a problem what you attach it to, cuz the mobo will come with the (usually) brass standoffs, that you will attach the mobo screws to...

Ipod Nano

what i did with my daughter's nano is use the old $25 itunes gift card from BB, and downloaded the songs to her library or was it purchased songs, (not directly to the ipod)... now my son has a shuffle and somehow likes some of her songs, and i just told him to plug in the shuffle and pull it...

Question about wireless security

holy shnikes, for the love of gawd, take the few minutes to set (her) the WPA, WEP security features... give yourself piece of mind without having to take time to ask... there are a lot of unscrups that will eventually find your unsecured network & can or will take full advantage...

Computer won't boot with iPod connected?

HA!!! so it wasn't just me, i left my daughter's nano plugged in while booting off, and same thing happened to me, bootup was jacked... at first couldn't figure it out, but everything pointed to the the nano still being hooked up... i just disconnected it, rebooted and no probs after that... so...

oops forgot to post... i buy ibm/lenovos for my company, and i've learned a lot of how they distribute/ship the laptops... first of all, i try to order the latest lappy models cuz once a model starts getting a tad dated, distributers (and ibm/lenovo) go right to allocation... meaning that once...

you seemed to have posted here quite a bit, and i assume that you've probably perused AT much more... it seems you have a pretty good grasp of what you're needing your setup for... at least try building it yourself for a pretty good savings for better components... there are plenty of posts here...

How fast is your Internet Connection?

hmmm... i have verizon in so-calif (temps in the 80's today)... this is wi-fi... kids & wife using my cable-connect rig, i'll have to check it later... Download Speed: 1222 kbps (152.8 KB/sec transfer rate) Upload Speed: 371 kbps (46.4 KB/sec transfer rate)

After 1 month of wait got my R50e Thinkpad.

the R50e does not have the xbrite screen... the newegg deal is pretty good, someone mentioned a $100 rebate deep in this thread...

i don't mind the NIB, but fer' better manueverability i got an M$ wireless notebook optical usb mini-mouse to use with my r50e and what a great great addition... it also kills the power of the mouse (battery savings) when you re-attach the usb-connector for storage underneath the mouse itself...

i purchased the ibm/lenovo r50e from newegg for $749 with no shipping, included a free stick 512mb upgrade, i've been using wirelessly now for about a month, and i have been very happy with its quality and performance to price... here's the specs: #1842STU P-M 725 1.6ghz 256MB 40GB HD...

whats the hardest part in building your own computer??

the research is time consuming for the first time (special thanks to AT)... but the hardest was the OS especially when SATA drivers need to be loaded by floppy... and going nuts trying to figure out why a CD couldn't/wouldn't suffice, luckily the MoBo Mfr included the floppy... oh and formatting...
