Abit AV8 Overclocking

Questions about OCing

umm.. not working out. If I lower the Multiplier factor to like 5.0x, the cpu fsb cant run at 250. It could only run like 240 and the cpu operating frequency is only in like the 1800s. I can do like multiplier factor at like 9.0x and cpu fsb at 225 and run at an operating speed 2025, but...

More space on Hard Drive

umm, I'm using a SATA hard drive western digital 160 gb, does that make a difference? And it doesn't say on the mobos website if it supports hard drives over 137 GB, it should since this model is not that old. http://www.abit-usa.com/products/mb/techspec.php?categories=1&model=175

Questions about OCing

I have some questions about overclocking for my system. I'm following the "quick and dirty A64 clocking guide". I am using a Abit AV8 mobo, and a AMD athlon 64 3000+In my BIOS the external clock has a 204/66/33Mhz, is that suppose to be the HTT/FSB? and my Multiplier Factor goes from 5.0 to 9.0...

More space on Hard Drive

uhh, I went to the website and tried to understand it. I update to windows xp to sp 2 already, and I cant find EnableBigLba in my regedit (I even used the search thing on it), and I updated my BIOS. How do I check if my mobo supports 48-bit LBA. Is the mobo chipset driver patch the AMD processor...

Computer Temps

hrm.. I have a AMD Athlon 64 3000+ on an ABIT AV8. CPU at idle is 39°C, and loaded is 60°C. Is this like bad for the CPU? like fry it in a couple of months? I tested it with the torture test on prime95, it ran for like 6 hours, i did not time to do more. Anyone know if these are safe temps?

I'll list some specs, I use a Athlon 64 3000+, Abit AV8 motherboard, 160 gb WD SATA hard drive. I installed original release versions of Windows XP Professional, and then updated to SP2 with a cd from microsoft and still reads as 127 GB. There is no EnableBigLba to enable to 1 in...

More space on Hard Drive

When I partitioned my hard drive with WD Data Lifeguard, the max was 137. Right now I have a capacity of 127 (what gives). Also my hard drive should be 160 GB, how do I get the rest of the space? Also what is the reconmmended parition space when you install the operating system.

Problems installing OS

*GASP* I had totally forgotten about that SATA disk. Too bad I cant get it to run even though it took another 10 minutes or taking out of this comp that I'm using now and installing it onto the new one. I cant run the Windows CD, thats the problem. Am I suppose to be able to press F6 somewhere...

Radeon 9500 pro or 9800 pro

Which one is the better deal right now? 9500 pro or 9800 pro? I want somethng that plays HL2 and Farcry with good graphics for the best deal. I might replace it in 3/4 of a year and sell the card (9500/9800) to make at least a little profit. What should I do??
