my Q6600 wont load into windows at 3.6GHz even w/ my bios set at 1.57v lol...

Hunting down a D0

the Xeon vs i7 thing is probably just like the old A64 vs Opteron thing was... the Xeons are probably the cream of the crop chips that tested out best and the ones that arent up to snuff are called i7's purely speculation but it would seem to be most cost effective for them...

Single card replacement for 9600GT SLI?

not to hijack but im in the same boat but with a Q6600 on a 780i and 9600GT KO's in SLi... currently oc'd to 2.8GHz because im lazy and dont want to fix the MCP heatsink. What nVidia card would replace them comparably?

thanks for the heads up on the 920/940 statement, i've been reading about how the processor does all of the memory controlling now so if its not pinned for each specific type of memory then it wont work and i didnt know that the 920/940 was like that, i would have been PISSSED when it didnt boot...

So, what is the "bees knees" for both the Phenom II and the Core i7 stuff right now? i havent seen any stuff about PII stuff but i keep seeing X58 for i7, specifically for the Classified series from eVGA, i fell into that trap with my 780i when it first came out... I'm a big fan of Gigabyte...

cant overclock with this board, MCP overheats and by the time you get an OC worth keeping you start getting errors, pour design on eVGA's part... so if i got with another Core2 product its staying stock clocks...

At 1680x1050 res, how much faster would you say is...

i have two 9600GT's in SLi and even when i forget to enable SLi it does decent with my system... but Crysis the still the only game ive noticed any noticeblly bad framerates in once SLi was enabled and everything cranked iwde open... Get the 9600GT's they run WAAAYYYYY quiet and the fans only...

Poor Q6600 OC's

my system starts crashing and all at 3.0GHz and ive got a 780i with a Q6600 G0 chip... bumped up the voltages a bit and all it did was get INSANELY hot... ive got the Nvidia/Zalman cooler giant 110mm beast and it was still showing 70* on core 0 and 1 but mid-low 60's on core 2 and 3

Worth upgrading?

anyone think its worth upgrading? ive seen the new GT200 stuff and the new 48x0 cards floating around now... ive really hit a wall cpu-wise for a reasonable amount of money by getting the Q6600.. i had it up at 3ghz but it really wasnt too stable and made a TON of heat even with the Zalman...

3870 X2 to 9800 GX2 very disappointed

all the benchmarks ive seen show the 9800GX2 is actually SLOWER than my 9600GT SLi setup untill you goto 2560xXXXX resolution and im running on a Q6600 with a 780i and 4GB of ram... Crysis Demo ran pretty smooth untill the ice ship thing.... then it got stupid like 2-5 fps id return all that...

Is running 6 1/2 hrs of Prime95 considered being stable?

you people must have nothing to do on your computers during all of these super long tests... if its stable during what you do then dont worry about it... screw what they say...

does that seem high to you? it does to me, ive got a Zalman CNPS9700NT with AS5 and plenty of airflow in my Antec P180.... its such a paint to get those screws back into the mounts for the zalman that i dont want to take the fan off and re mount it lol

What is your VID on coretemp on Q6600 G0 stepping only

ok, there ARE multiple VID's depending on stuff... im overclocked at 333x9 which is 3GHz and my VID is 1.275 at that speed... and was at stock of 266x9 now it sitting at 333x6 since i have that speedstep or whatever enabled and the VID 1.1625 is it multiplier dependent?

my VID was 1.275 when i got the chip and i swear it went down after i overclocked it... but ill check it when i get home... OC: 3GHz vcore: 1.275 in bios, 1.22 idle vista64, 1.19 full load IIRC during prime95 small

thanks for the heads up on the Antec nine hundred... lol, normally people just drag race those cars hahahaha my buddies 99 Civic Si is pretty much the best handling car ive ever had a chance to ride in. it has a set of D2 coilovers and falken azenis on it... motor only makes about 160-170...

Suggest a Case for me...

03 cobras handle AWESOME! i helped my buddy build a 96GT... Ford Racing Block, cobra crank, Eagle Rods, Diamond Pistons, he made the turbokit and used a Masterpower T70... at 14psi it made something like 600hp... fast as poo to my opinion

gotta know when and where to go fast in the car :) ive got longtubes, offroad h and flowmasters which is pretty loud and ive got no problems :) and i cant go to fast in my car... 4.10's is way too much gear lol

am i the only one who thinks the results werent that great? i mean yeah you did drop your temps a lot but i think you've got other problems as it is considering your end IHS/TRUE lapped temps were what my non lapped CNPT9700NT temps are... im a n00b when it comes to applying thermal paste and...

New System?

if you ever plan to go SLi your gonna have to OC that q6600 like a mofo to take advantage of it... im in the process of that right now... and honestly if you can pop for the extra cash, just get a 8800GT... i kinda wish i had gone 8800GT's in SLi... and maybe some higher end dual core...

Poor 9600gt performance

yep, run 3dmark06 and see what the score is... im cpu limited with two 9600GT's in SLi and an overclocked Q6600... he did what most do and bought more video card than he can use.

lol... i looked at those and i would seriously get one if i was gonna do water cooling but after looking at the overall price of watercooling... its not not worth it for what im wanting to do plus should i ever get a leak im screwed.

Suggest a Case for me...

well with my P180 they cut airflow in about half... and with a higherspeed fan having the front door closed will kill airflow too... im sure its fine if you have a minimalist system that doesnt belch heat but i need a bit of airflow running SLi and an overclocked quadcore...
