Lian Li Intake Fans Not Working!

IRC, the stock fans on the Lian-li case were connected through a 4pin molex. trace the wires from the fan and see if they are indeed connected to a 3pin header or a 4pin molex.

Poll: How much do you spend / year on your computer's hardware?

Audio Help

I don't like fanboism, but I think I'll step up here. I just bought a pair of the M200s. I would describe them as sounding really true. Using a tone generator I've found they will go down to 49Hz at a decent volume (with onboard sound). I can't compair em to any of the other recommendations...

Audio Help

I'm also looking for a sound card for 2.0 or 2.1. I figure Audigy 2 value is the way to go. It will do 2 channels at 24bit/192kHz, and can be had for $35.00 ar at ZZF. Any other suggestions?

NOT HOT: newegg now ships UPS by default

I've had trouble with Fedex, but I would ship with just about anyone other than UPS. They never deliever on time and usually cost more. UPS and Newegg :thumbsdown:

Quiet northbridge chipset cooler

The fins on the purple(blue?) Zalman fanless cooler are pretty flexible, shouldn't be that hard to do like MDE said.

I like the hole saw in this case. or freehand it with a dremel using jack's suggestion of using a fan grill tracing as your patern. be sure to clean all metal shavings out before putting the panel back on. But honestly, I don't see the point of putting more fans in that case. Its got enough...

What is the quietest case fan?

in the 80mm size I would second the Panaflo L1As. Btw the BX suffix on the Panaflo fan denotes tach sensing. Be sure to note what kind of connector you need for your case. nothing more annoying than getting the fans and finding out you need an adaptor.

Steel vs. Aluminum

As has already been pointed out, the heat dissipation through the case metal is minimal at best. As for the resonance of Al cases v. Steel cases, well you can always go the route that I did and just put some accoustipak on your Lian-li or whatever you get. Now granted, my case is now close to a...

vegetable-oil cooled computer

This wouldn't work, or atleast not for very long. Unless your computer is completely metal free. Water would begin to ionize any metal (Galvanic corrosion), and eventually deep six your components. I'd love to try it with 3M's fluorinert, but that stuff is expensive.

SilentX Fans

SilentX is greatly disliked among much of the SilentPCReview community because they are notorous for having inaccurate specs. like JBDan said, they don't move as much air as they claim. Same goes for Thermaltake.

Seasonic 430w vs. 600w PSU

The S12-430 runs a couple of dB quieter than the 600 according to an SPCR review, but the 600 has better efficiency (less heat). http://www.silentpcreview.com/article247-page1.html You might look around that site for other PSU options.

I've heard the chipset fan on your motherboard can get quite loud, but people on a message board cant really tell you whats making the noise in your computer, because we can't actually hear your computer. PS. Sound insulation and dampening don't help much until the rest of your components...

You can try silencing it. With 11 fans, I would imagine it probably sounds like a hoover. I have a PC-7 with only 5 fans total.

That tears it. No new comp for me.

I'm just surprised that Sli has caught on as much as it has. You'd think that most people would see thru the thinly smeared BS on that one. You pay more than twice as much to play a handful of games at a slightly higher FPS? Too much expendable income floating around...

Lian Li case, heat problem?

Your CPU is at about 61c if my calculations are right. Thats reasonable for a "pres-hot." 43-53c does seem a little warm for your system temp. Temps from your mobo can be a little off btw.

You might look into Swans M200. They can be had for about $175 on newegg. They are only 2.0, but have gotten some good reviews from audio enthusiasts. If I have the spare change those would be what I'd get. Google em if you want to find some reviews.

Need a *HOLE SAW* to cut the grill off the back of my Lian Li 6070B case..

Take a look at this guide. I would go with a Dremel myself. With some careful work and some sanding you should have a pretty round cut-out. I would definently go with a variable speed one model. I did it and it came out quiet clean. Besides, you'll get more use out of a dremel if you decide to...
