for a long time people were paying well over the $1k msrp for these.
However, with mpeg 4 looming at dtv and dish, any receiver purchase
should be carefully considered.
I bet the mpaa has something to do with it. They don't want people to be able
to do 1:1 copies of their movies. Using d/l media you may even be able
to keep the css intact thereby making it legal under the dmca.
Just a thought.
most movies are mastered in high definition before they are reduced in quality for dvd video. So there is already a big catalog of movies that can be released in HD.
When you look at the back of a dvd movie case, alot of them will say mastered in HD.
had a raptor 74 gig from newegg die at less than a week old,
got it replaced from newegg, but took forever. I think WD's
rma is much better, they ship you a new drive then you
return the broken one.
the rebate comes in an envelope that looks like junk mail, i was in the process of
throwing it away when my curiosity got the best of me and i opened it.

this may be another nefarious rebate trick to cut down on people...
