It's true that I don't have much room left in my second slot. If the VF900 is any thicker than the stock hsf then it probably won't fit...

7900GT: Unlocking the Beast Within

Is it safe to do 1.3v with the stock cooler? Currntly with stock 1.2v I get 52c Idle and 63c Load. That's at 575/770. I really don't want to spend another $80 on 2 zalman VF900s for my 7900 GT SLI setup. And I hear 70c Load is pretty safe so do you think I can get away with it?

Gaming performance on BootCamp + Intel Mac?

I fixed the title.. it made it sound like it was emulation. Still, won't game developers specifically have to support Mac graphics cards and drivers for them to work well?

eVGA 7900 GT 450 MHz or 500/550 MHz?

Oblivion Benchmark Sites?

Ideally I'd want to have the OEM package sealed, so I can sell it at max price. (I plan to sell the x1900xt OR the 7800 GT SLIs) Anything pointing to the X1900XT performing better than my setup would be encouraging :)

Oblivion Benchmark Sites?

I run Oblivion with 7800 GT SLIs at 1920x1200 @ 45-60 indoors and 35+ outdoors, all high except actor/tree/object distance, full grass, with all the ini/driver tweaks suggested in the elder scrolls forums. I happen to have an X1900XT (long story), so I was wondering which would perform better.

Overclocking with nvidia display utility--reverts to original speeds after restart?

It seems that whenever I overclock my BFG 7800 GT OC (a mere 50 MHz, 425 to 475), check "apply these settings at startup", press apply, and restart, it reverts back to 425 MHz. Is this because the driver thinks 475 MHz is not "optimal"? The optimal speeds that it detects is actually 500/1.15...

Why would I use the GPU lead for HDD also? PSU had dedicated leads for GPUs. But no, I didn't try this. I tried an Antec NeoHE 550 with bare minimum power connected and didn't work, so I really doubt its the PSU.

Update on this problem: I went ahead and got the 7800 GT SLI. It works, as I was sure it would. I still can't figure out why the x1900xt won't work in the mobo. But given this horrible experience, I doubt I'll ever get an ATI card again... I've always preferred the geforces, but this time...

I installed the newest drivers for the 7800GTs I'm running in SLI, and also the nf4 drivers for the mobo. After the updates I get 6300 instead of 6900. Isn't this very low for SLI? I get horrible scores in CPU tests too.. barely 1 fps. I installed the amd/intel x16? version for the nf4...

Cables touching HSF/GPU--problem?

I have my CPU power cable touching the HSF because the cable is too short for better wiring, and there are some others that touch the rear of the GPU. Could this be a problem if I overclock and get temps up high?

Help with p180 case audio connector

I have a case (p180) audio connector that has a 10-1 pin audio connector. The problem is my mobo (a8r-mvp) has a front panel audio connector and a system panel connector. Front panel audio connector is the same 10-1 pin audio conenctor that the case has. But if I connect this, I don't hear...

Yes, the GPU fan turns on and runs fine. I tried sticking in the 6800 and the x1900xt in both slots but didn't get signal from both. Maybe there's a BIOS setting I have to toy with? I just went to Fry's to return one GPU and one of the technicians said the X1900XTs don't work in A8N32-SLI...

So, I'm out of ideas on this one... I'm thinking, is it possible to fry a GPU by connecting the EZ-plug to the GPU's 6-pin by mistake? This means EZ-plug is getting power from the GPU which is also getting poewr from the mobo--cyclical and doesn't make sense. Because I remeber doing this...

I decided not to update my BIOS, but updated the nf4 drivers... also tried to install the ATI Catalyst software but it seems like it's not getting installed, probably because I'm using the nvidia. In any case, still no good. :(

I have a Seasonic 500 PSU. Should be good enough for a single x1900xt setup, but who knows. Link: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817151024 I am now installing Windows XP Pro SP2 and install ATI drivers/update BIOS etc, see if that helps. Do you think it might help?

Thanks Gagan. I tried with just the minimum (mobo, CPU, GPU) and still no good. There's this 3-pin connector on the card near the 6-pin power, I assume it's a fan controller and I'm not using it but there is no way this could affect anything--oh nevermind, it doens't look like one.

The ATI X1900XT didn't come with a 4 to 6 pin adapter, so I just plugged in the PSU 6-pin to the GPU. I have 3 fans that come with the p180 case, all of them is used on one power lead. The GPU lead has 2 6-pins) and only one of them is used by the GPU. I put the fans on Medium RPM so maybe...

Gagan: I used the geforce 6800 GT to get to the BIOS. CPU/RAM is detected, no problem. SATA HD is detected as master and CD drive is also detected as master. I've had the card in the blue slot, now I'm trying the black slot. *prays*

I haven't disabled or enabled the SLI. Do I need to do somethng in order to disable it? I imagined it would automatically know if there was only one card connected.

Compatibility check: Sapphire X1900XT and A8N32-SLI Deluxe

I received a DOA Sapphire X1900XT and I confirmed this with my old PC which also couldn't get signal from the GPU. Just to make sure, I wanted confirmation on compatibility. Is this card compatible with the A8N32-SLI Deluxe? If you have this setup, please let me know.

AT's comparisons didn't include ATI X1900XT, so I'd like to know how the ATI version performs in speed/overclockability compared to 3rd party cards like the Sapphire. The reason I ask is I can just get the ATI one from a local retail store rather than buying online (which can be a PITA for me).

Thank you pcman83. That clears up my questions. So when there is no IDE HD, I should set the optical drive to master. I read the manual but it was unclear about the master/slave settings in case I'm using SATA for HD and IDE for optical.
