ASUS A8N-SLi Premium owners

With the NeoHE PSU you need to be running the 1009 or newer bios (this is very important seeing as there is a known issue between the NeoHE and the ASUS A8N boards with random powerdowns). If you aren't experienceing this problem, however, any bios should be ok. I use the 1009 on mine.

Antec p180 Fan Configuration

Drop the VGA duct, its worthless. The fans on the front should be sucking air in. I have both the top and rear fan sucking from inside the case and blowing air out. I tried to blow air in the top one and it seemed to make things worse, but my 2.5GHz athlon 64 x2 3800+ runs below 50 celcius at...

P180 front intake fan.

My temps at stock are usually low 30's but then load jumps to mid 40's or a little higher depending on room temp with the stock fans and an XP-120

1500$ limit please suggest laptop with turion 64?

Second the acer turion 64 notebook. More reliable than the MSI barebones units and still with dedicated video.

Building a new system - need some suggestions!

I agree with hurts to talk to you. The P180 is a great case. I love mine. The A8N boards are also very nice, but if you aren't gaming don't get an SLI board, go with the A8N-E. I basically agree with each of his suggestions. Hope a seconded opinion helps.

Turn flash drive into Windows XP CD

My former roomate got a windows xp install minus a lot of functionality to take up only a few hundred megabytes and to boot from a flash drive...i don't remember how he did it but I may be able to find out and post back.

Just picked up an SB X-Fi sound card and ordered a set of Z-5500 and had a question or two...

Personally with the 109dB SNR of the X-Fi card the sound quality is so good already I don't think you need to use the digital...I just use analog with my klipsch speakers but thats just my 2 cents.

Opinions on the Sony VAIO S460P/B

mines got a 1.7, 100GB HDD, 1gb ram, lightscribe dvd burner...its a step up from the base model thank you very much...not to mention its aspecial edition with a polished aluminum top. =) EDIT: you can configure a similar model that is exactly the same but with a 1.6 instead of a 1.7 and it...

Sempron vs Intel

mobile celeron will give you better battery life, smepron will probably give oyu better performance.

Opinions on the Sony VAIO S460P/B

i've got a good small dv1000 i'm selling...its way cheaper than than weighs just over 5 pounds...but has a 14" screen, double the ram, 20GB more hard drive, but worse video...its still really nice though...3 weeks old in mint condition....i'm welling it for around 1250 pm me if you want more info.

HP zv6170us Pavilion vs. GATEWAY 7510GZ

The gateway is a much better gaming laptop, but buy a service plan on it wherever you get it...gateways have a higher incidence of problems according to consumer reports. and from working at best buy...i will agree with them.

What are the differances between the HP DV1340 and DV1331SE?

THe 1331 has a polished aluminum or plastic top that looks a lot nicer IMO. I know its not much...but if you are looking at one...i'm trying to sell my nearly brand new 1331 with a gig of ram for around 1300 shipped...pm me if interested or if you have more questions

Alright, I am leaning towards and HP DV1000, anything wrong with it, or anything better for the money?

I just bought a dv1000 series laptop and I love it. Yea the games arent that great but I use my laptop for what you do, I have a desktop for gaming. The size/weight/and features of the dv1000 are what pushed me into it. That and I work for best buy and I've literally sold more of these than any...
