web based vpn?

I'm lookin to setup a vpn server on my home pc. the problem is that i want to be able to login from any computer, without installing an vpn software. I've tried SSL Explorer, but it seems too finicky. anyone have any other recommendations?

conference w/ inventor of ethernet... what should i ask?

haha, what did 3Com do to its enterprise customers? and i like the one about scalability... i was thinking about asking him if he see's ethernet playing as important of a role 20 or 30 years from now.

took out virus/spyware - win98 has LAN issues now

i had a customer that called me said they're computer was acting wacky. I fired it up and immediately could tell there was a massive spyware infection. So i decided to take the HD out and install it on my machine as a slave and run a virus scan and then a spyware scan. Both scans picked up alot...

funny firewall behaviour

for the past 12 hours, i've been getting alot of hits from various sources on port 6346, which is supposed to be from the gnutella network, but as far as i know, i dont have any apps that access that. how can i pin down which program is actually using that port?

yea, basically i'm using my "trial" version of 2k3 just to learn. i absorb alot more if i can play with the OS for a bit, then start reading some books on what i was just doing.

starting to learn programming - which language to start with?

So I was an electical engineering student, but recently decided that i hated the classes i was in, and that I should try Comp Sci. So my question is, which language should someone with no experience start to learn? (i've done html but that hardly counts i assume)

for what its worth, i think i've had the same install of XP for about 18 months or so, if not more. seems pretty stable to me so long as your smart enough not to let spyware get installed on your box every time you check your email.

yea, i'm not really sure.... but you probably shouldn't have moved the entire my documents folder, as i think its a protected system folder. before doing a system restore on costumer's pc's, i've tried doing that but you cant simply right click and hit copy, so i open the folder up and then copy...

ok, i tried pulling the ide cable, and now the computer will only boot if the cdrw drive has power, even if the ide cable is disconnected. what now?

the new cdrw drive i installed as the secondary master, the old drive is the secondary slave, so if disconnected, the system should boot fine. i'll try the new cable idea tonight though

sorry to post 8 million times in a row :-) i figured out the hard drive thing is actually (mostly anyway) being caused by a loose power connection on the drive, if the power cable is bumped even slightly, it cuts the power out temporarly. also figured out that the computer will boot up...

playing with the computer a bit more tonight.... the bios reports that the 12v channel is coming in at 11.31v, but i'm not sure what the voltage was when i first installed the PSU. still dont know how this would prevent me from removing the cdrw drive.

yes, the computer will work when the cdrw drive is plugged back in, however, since adding the new cdrw drive, my hard drive will power down randomly and lock my box up. I believe i did try resetting the cmos (take the battery out) and still had the same issue. on that note, i assume that if...
