T400 High Pitch Noise (non CPU?)

I just got a new T400 and have been unfortunate enough to hear a constant high pitch noise. It is only really audible when in complete silence and I lower my head to the keyboard, but when in normal use I still feel I can sense it, and it's driving me crazy. I have disabled CPU power...

manly- Yes the HAL is correct. I have tried bootvis, however it didnt tell me anything. It showed what caused each delay in the start up. The very first bar was HUGE, but it was unlabeled. All drivers/apps followed that first lag looked normal. What can I conclude from this?

yes I have 1, unfortunately he is in Europe for another 2 weeks. I cant get ahold of him either to see if I can sneak in his house and grab his system.. he probably wouldnt let me anyway ;) but thanks for the reply, I also assume it is the memory controller. I'll try to contact amd.

another update: I replaced the RAM with some old corsair pc3000 I had. Same beeps. So I pulled the videocard, then turned it on. SILENCE. I then got excited and threw in an old PCI videocard. Either it doesn't work or my mobo didn't like it because there was no post, silence again...

well I changed it back to SATA 150, spread spectrum clocking oFF reinstalled windows. Same problem. Ugh, what Can I try now?

I read that continuous long beeps = mem or vid error one thing I forgot to mention was that one of the times it (semi) posted all I got was a blank screen that read something like: R430 BIOS X800XL or something like that..

well, I have formatted (long way) and doesn't that scan for/fix bad sectors? I have also run Disk Integrity tool (or whatever) which is hitachi's hdd diagnostic tool. Neither produced errors. I also checked temps, and they were low 30s

interesting, I'll give the old way a shot then. any suggestions on totally clearing a hdd first? I mean CLEAN, deleting partitions is as deep as you can go? maybe I dont trust ms winxp option to delete the partition, and its leaving bits behind. how can I totally clear it off for fresh?

Unable to run hitachi diagnostics on my t7k250

well my 160 gig 2 month old t7k250 has been making some strange noises so I was going to run the drive fitness test. i download the iso from the hitachi website and burn it to a cd. I boot from it and while it looks like it is going to load "STARTING PC-DOS" (or something like that) it hangs...
