Won't dual boot. XP- Win7

SOLVED.... The Raid drivers on the mobo CD-Rom are not for the 890 chipset. (Asus M4A89GTD Pro/USB3) A download of the correct drivers allowed me to redefine and rebuild the Raid1 array. Simple fix for such a bitch of a mess.

Remote Access ...

SOLVED: AMD Raid drivers for the 890GX Chipset on the mobo CD-Rom are not for the 890 Chipset. Updating the Raid driver with the correct driver allowed me to get into the RaidXpert app and redefine the array and rebuild the array. Such a simple fix for such a bitch of a headache!

Remote Access ...

A messed up OS on a RAID1 ... The original OS disc with slipstreamed apps and drivers is sitting in Texas ( along with the Key ) ! I'm in BC, Canada ! The original install on the PC was a single drive with XP on it and dual booting to a RAID1 setup for Win7. Right at the moment it's a mess...

Is it possible using remote access to INSTALL an OS?? I know apps can be added via remote, but an OS ??? I doubt it ...likely impossible .... but maybe someone knows for sure.!

USB Ports Not Working

In BIOS there should be a menu item about USB controller. If it's a really recent laptop; it may be a selection for USB Legacy; USB2.0 or USB 3.0. Go thru the BIOS and check for USB 2.0 is enabled.

A buddy has a Dual boot system. Xp on a single SataHDD; and Win7 on a Raid 1 dual SataHDD setup. Xp boots okay. Win 7 won't boot. Looking at the Raid HDD's I see both show up in "My Computer" PLUS 2 partitions on each of the Raid drives. Normally under Raid 1 I think I should only see 1...

New virus or malware?

Finally fixed. Microsoft Service engineer via remote access found a corrupted file. How or why it got corrupted ?? But, all is well again. Mem tests all passed, so maybe just a passing glitch. Thanks for the reply.

Can 64bit data be transferred to 32bit data?

I have Vista Ultimate 64bit and plan to clean install to Win 7 Pro 32bit. I have a partition with numerous TV show downloads and wonder if I back these up on an external HD (in 64bit), when the change to Win 7 Pro 32 bit is completed, can they be transferred to a 32bit partition ?

Do all the computers have the same workgroup name, and/or is file sharing turned on? Some OS's use "workgroup" and some use "MSHome" as the default workgroup name. I set all mine to the same name ie: "Home". I use the "network setup wizard" found in Control Panel to change the workgroup name...

Very SLOW to access homepage via IE

UPDATE: I connected back to the DSL system and the IE connects to any homepage selected INSTANTLY !! Problem must be in the router or ISP. Probably the ISP, because the other PC's still connect instantly. Or, maybe the router, because the other PC's aren't included in the port forwarding.

Can't wake computer out of sleep / hibernate

By Jove I think I have it. I read in another forum about undervoltaged RAM modules. 1.8v modules are not really stable, but can be made more efficient if the voltage is bumped to 1.9v. I tried this by uping the voltage by 100 mv. (or .1v) in BIOS and voila it is stable for the past 24 hours...

Running out of room in my OS partition.

Extending partitions can be tricky. I copied my D partition and E partition to an external HD, then checked that all had moved ok. Deleted the info on D & E and used Partition Maker to delete the Partitions D & E. Extended C to the unallocated and made a new D. Then transferred the data etc...

I have a similar problem. My desktop won't come out of Standby or Sleep, or what ever mode it's in after 24 hours. I have checked the BIOS of my P5N73-AM (bios 0501) and there is no ACPI 'enabled/disabled' setting, just S1 or S3 or both. I've tried S1, and S3 settings and it still won't...

How do you move an app from one partition to another ?

I'm trying to install an app in Partition E, but it defaults to C. Most apps allow you to select the drive you want to install to, but this doesn't give that option. Is there a way to move it to another partition after it has defaulted and installed on C ?

Checking personal mail at work

I would imagine that if they have installed any keystroke capturing apps ... anything you type would be seen ... including passwords. If you are a 50 user group, and there is a lot of keyboard activity from all 50 ... they would need lots of storage to capture and log everyone's output...
