Agreed Nicene! I love being a DJ at my radio station, its tough with school and all but most definately worth it! Do everything in your power to be a dj, I'm sure your show would rock nicene! You go in with lots of musical knowledge but come out with so much more!

The Ramones ruled (and still rules), and the punk scene is always interesting but I love the elephant 6 stuff, good pop/rock for a sunny day.

As a independent rock dj at my college radio station I can tell you a few things about a few of these bands:
Belle & Sebastian - check out tigermilk or if you are feeling sinister both albums are great
Grandaddy - The sophtmore slump is good
Sigor Ros - unworldy, one of the best albums this...
Into independent rock myself, I'm a dj for my college radio station KDVS, check out Pavement (album Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain) or Modest Mouse (Lonesome Crowded West, The Moon and Antartica) for the best in indie rock.

One of the main reasons I personally enjoyed playing FFIX so much was because it had so many references to the FF games of yesteryear...
