In actual fact the socket 479 processors only have 478 Pins! two are in a different position compared to desktop 478 cpu's

Simple ipod help wanted

Thanks, not 100% sure they will do what I want, let me expand. My Mp3 collection is in seperate folders, I dont use playlists I just like to drag a folder into my normal MP3 player. I would like to do that to my Ipod as it will save time creating playlists ( i have 80gb of mp3's and thats alot...

Simple ipod help wanted

hi, just got an ipod photo for use in my car. I want to copy my existing mp3 collection over, which is all sorted into seperate folders on an external drive. How can I do this without having to load it into Itunes - I just cant get along with it.

which is the better 7600gs?

The xfx card are running 500/900 and your not going to get much higher than that on most card without vcore adjustments. I use an 80mm fan at a low rpm aimed at the front of the card and it keeps them at 60c underload

New Laptop for between £400 - £600

Good cheap SLi solution?

I have 2 x 7600gs (xfx xtreme's running 500/900) which are pretty cool (literally as they are passive) which on games that are sli aware gives performance around the 7900gt level for less price. On games that dont run well with sli a 7900gt would be quicker but I like to play with technology and...

Just built my 2nd HTPC

Oblivion Benches: Why the disparity between GTX512 and 7900GTX?

Dont forget as well as the boost from higher fillrate (rop's running quicker) the vertex shaders are running at 700 mhz rather than 550 ( so 150 (difference) x 8 (vs) = 1200 mhz so almost the same as having an extra 2 vertex shaders)

Overclocking 754 Athlon XP-M

you shouldnt state things unless your 100% sure. The socket 754 athlon xp-m was produced for OEM's (HP) and was a athlon64 that had the 64bit extensions disabled. They usually had 256kb of lvl2 cache and iirc the 2800+ ran at 1.6ghz. I had a 2600+ xp-m which I ran in a desktop mobo at 2.4ghz...

Outlook trying to send messages which dont exist?

I have a problem in that Microsoft Outlook appears to be trying to send messages which dont exist i.e. not in outbox. I think they might be read receipts but cant be sure anyone have any ideas?

Asus Z33AE - Is barebones laptops a good idea?

I have built 3 barebones laptops (all aopens)and the process is fairly simple as long as you have an ounce of common sense and moderate skill with a screwdriver. My current machine is an aopen 1559 with p-m 1.6@2.133, 2gb of ram etc.. and it was quite a bit cheaper

Ti4200 OC'ing problems.

Lets ignore this stupid part and move on.. I would guess that you gpu vcore is too low causing instability. What about using nibtor (i think its called) and nvflash to up your core voltage a litle and see if that regains your stability.

How do I figure out what socket my Pentium M is?

All pentium M's have only 478 pins, the mobo's meanwhile have 479 holes. As one is in a different place you cannot physically put it into a P4 478 board.

Does the older Pentium-M Dothan get better battery life than the newer Dothan with 533MHz FSB?

the faster fsb consumes more power, but is faster (just). But the 533fsb's chips are likely to undervolt more. The difference in your case is likely to be 10mins - not that much.

Is it worth it to upgrade from a Pentium M 1.6 GHZ (1MB Cache) to a 2.0Ghz Dothan with 2GHz cache?

Its a good gain (as long as its a 400fsb part) but memory and hard drive (e.g. 7200rpm and 2gb) would give good gains as well. I have used dothans from 1.3 / 1mb upto 2.133 with 2mb (not ghz as your title ;-) ) and each step is a nice jump.

dont expect much, my 9700 seemed really slow in an aopen 1557 and resolutions lower than 1024 look ugly on lcd's which are higher

Most people are missing the other points, what are the rest of your specs? What CPU memory etc. You might get a nice boost from a cpu upgrade and / or ram

Can Sonoma chipset support banias 705 CPU?
