    27-inch Asus for $299.99 @ Newegg

2560x1600 isn't what you want then because it's 16:10... so I guess you want it too and don't even realize it. I don't like 16:9 either, why? Because it's a smaller screen comparatively, less real estate(again comparatively..meaning 1920x1200 vs 1920x1080, 1680x1050 vs 1600x900, etc.) and...

    DEAD: 2TB Samsung Spinpoint F4 3.5" SATA Internal Hard Dr - $59.99 AC - FS - Newegg

If I were to make two guesses: 1.) Samsung has a lower profit margin and doesn't charge as much of a premium for their hdd's brand line compared to other drives(that's why it seems to be lower on average comparatively). 2.) Korean Won (Korea's currency) has been hit really hard these...

Laser Printer that is refill friendly

I ended up buying the Brother HL-5420. It was on sale for for $120, so I figured why not? 35ppm, 16mb of ram, and supposedly not too hard to refill. However, time will tell whether or not this unit is actually reliable or not, I've seen some horror stories with this printer on Amazon's reviews.

Laser Printer that is refill friendly

Thanks for the input boomhower. That's exactly the type of feedback I'm trying to scout out for, I've actually been looking into that model as well. I've heard good things about brother printers lately.

Laser Printer that is refill friendly

A side note, I know HP's used to be the greatest out there, in fact their older laser printers are tanks that just don't give up. It's hard to find any brand these days that are consistent with their quality and ethics, just like the old saying goes, "they don't make things the way they used to."

Laser Printer that is refill friendly

Actually this is the one that I was referring to: http://consumerist.com/consume...er-employee-236517.php I've read around and seen confirmations(I take them lightly, but it still gives strength to the article): "I work for HP and most of this stuff is accurate. Amazingly, my job has...

Laser Printer that is refill friendly

thanks for sharing, it's a start in my search. This is a bit random, but I've heard that Hp started putting in rom chips that count how many pages go through the machine so that it automatically disables it after a certain amount. The chips can be reset but it's a pain in the butt. Have you...

I'm looking into a monochrome laser printer that costs around $150(it can be less, a lot less). I'm looking for: *refill friendly *doesn't jam often *holds a good amount of paper (*Edit, Update) Potential Candidates: Brother HL-5240(ended up buying this unit) Brother...

    Best gaming mouse out there?

I have both a logitech G5 and a Razer DB, I definitely like the DB better, it feels a lot smoother and the clicks are more solid(imo). However the G5's cord feels a lot more stronger, sometimes I worry about the DB's thin cord. Let me just say, it's generally known out there that Lasers are...

I need a thin and light performance laptop

Agreed, for what you stated, the M1330 has it. Except the fingerprint reader. Also, finding a webcam and fingerprint reader is a rare combo right now, but may grow as Lenovo has made the step in doing so. The T61 also has the features you want, minus the graphics card and probably the...

Paypal question, want to buy something but...

Well I've been on and off ebay throughout the years but never bought things regularly(or even yearly). Now I want to make a purchase but most sellers request that you are "paypal verfied", understandable since they want to verify you for their security since it's money. However, I noticed...

I have a 22'' TN panel, it's alrite, I mean honestly it's fine, I've gotten so many compliments from friends about how "beautiful" the screen looks. It's just that if you've owned a SIPS or SPVA panel before and were conscience about it then you'd probably complain if you "downgraded" to a TN...

    DEAD: Lenovo ThinkPad R61 (Core 2 Duo/14.1/512MB/60GB/Vista) $473

The new Lattitudes don't get as much credit or attention as they should imo, I'd pick a D630 over a T61 anyday. Similar specs aside, the Dell's include "smart charge" much like cellphones and shavers in which up to 80% of the charge in the battery is regained with only 1 hour of charging, and...

Thunderbird: Saving emails to export to another computer

Ok, well I tried Schandenfroh's method and though I was able to copy the folder under Application data, I was unable to find an Application data folder under my other rig, so I checked "hidden files" and it's taking over an hour. I will try Scott's suggestion of Mozbackup and report back...

Well, I've been using Thunderbird for a while now on one computer and I like it. So I'm going to get it set up on my other computer. However I'd like to be able to access all the emails that I've downloaded on my other computer. My pop3 account deletes old messages on a regular basis so my...

T60 vs T43 "retro" buy, which one should I get?

Interesting comment Gibson. If I got a T60 I will probably get a 14.1'' SXGA+, CoreDuo T2500, ATI Radeon X1400, 100GB HDD(5400RPM), DVD-RW, 2x1GB PC2-5300, Intel wireless adapter ABG, along with bluetooth and a fingerprint reader. I want to say thanks for the comments made, it has been...

T60 vs T43 "retro" buy, which one should I get?

Well that's nice to know and hear. I've heard from other users that some have exprienced overheating issues, as cool as they normally are. Apparently the dedicated GPU can get really hot(on applicable models), at times too hot to even put on their lap anymore. I've also read of a lot of...

T60 vs T43 "retro" buy, which one should I get?

I'm choosing to buy either over other T series because of "tried and true" status. I'm pretty firm on it, nothing wrong with the Santa Rosa platform in the T61, but let's just not go there and stay on topic. Both have the T60 and T43 achieve excellent battery life as well, amoung other things...

Laptop manufacturer reputation: Who makes the best these days (with poll)?

Yes, lenovo will more than likely win hands down, but in great part due to the fact that they purchased IBM's thinkpad brand(along with their design and "engineering" team). The thinkpads were and still are pretty well respected and known for ergnomics and quality. They use soft durable...

    No more T60 14-inch notebooks?!?!

Personally I prefer 14'' standard 5:4 rather than 16:10 resolution and for good reason. Even if it does have a santa rosa platform(which by the way doesn't show anything groundbreaking yet). From my perception the 14'' standard was one of the best selling versions of the T60. It is...
