EPoX "EP-9NPA+Ultra" NVIDIA nForce4 ULTRA Chipset Motherboard

I'm still running this board... almost 8 years now. Optron 170 cpu, and I just upgraded to 4GB ram, an OCZ Aglity 2 SSD 120GB, and Win 7 x64. Thinking of slapping on a H60 watercooling kit... but it is pretty quiet already. Only issue is some of the caps have bulged. A little worried about...

Recent Counter-Strike Source benchmarks?

I can state that running a dual core opt 170 with 2GB-DDR400 I get between 25 and 40 FPS on de-dust on average. With smoke and other effects it drops to 10fps or so. 800x600 res all settings on low. Radeon 9250 GPU.

All the systems are operating using XP Home. I am admin on all 3 accounts. Netbui is all that worked. I had the IP set up when the firewalls were down and that worked on the laptop/desktop but not the HP. Once I put firewall on... it didn't work anymore, so I installed Netbui and tried that...

If you wish to do upconversion... look to the Nvidia 7600 GS and up with purevideo. Audioholics.com did a review of Vidabox media players upcoversion and they use the Nvidia cards. kleinwl

It depends on what you want to do with this... but if it's gaming, I would change it up some. 1) no OCing... no Opterons... they are too slow... and X2 4400 or a Venice 3500 will better for most tasks. Only go with an X2 if you multitask (video ecoding while playing games/etc). 2) 2GB...

How can SATA II be used to potential today? Raid

The only thing right now that has a chance of using the SATA 3.0GB goodness is Gigabitye's i-RAM drive (version 2 coming out soon).

RAMDRIVE: Worth it? Or waste of money.

Gigabite is supposed to release the version 2 in Febuary. It supports SATA 3.0GB/s and DDR2 (w/ up to 16GB of ram). It will be expensive to load it up... but still much less than enterprise class solid state drives.

Small form factor, high speed RAID5 machine for cluster - what to do?!

Have you considered a rack set up instead of SFF? I know it is not the most cost effective idea, since you would have to get rid of all the SFFs.... but still what you are discribing is the reason why racks were invented.

Recommendations on a replacement MB/CPU

depending on what kind of video card you have you might just dump it and look at an integrated graphics like Biostar's 6100 or MSI Gforce 6100 mobos. BTW/ new hdd are somewhat fast now due to the catch improvements... you might want to look to just replacing the whole system.--> big improvement.

As the previous poster has stated... you are throwing away money on some items... $650 isn't enough to waste (ie. seperate PSU / $100 video card) Go with the Antec Solution. Great Value, and the power requirements of your wifes computer will not even come close to stressing the system. Save...

Your Case seems like it sucks for keeping everything cool.. get an intake, or an exhaust fan installed (maybe even mod in a "blowhole"). In addition an XP-90 or XP-120 would really help those temps keeping the CPU cool... But you are cold enough to be stable...

Rackmount DJ System - Sound Card?

I'm building a Rackmount DJ system for a friend - semi-pro DJ It's built on a 2U system. 2x250GB Seagate 7200.9 HDDs X2 3800+ 2GB OCZ Value etc. etc. etc. The real problem I have is selecting a sound card! I'm thinking M-Audio's 7.1 Revolution... But I also see alot more expensive...

I would recommed 2x1GB of ram, rather than 2x512MB. It makes it much simpler to overclock and BF2 really notices the improvement in performance. For overclocking Anandtech seems to recommend Crusible Balixic... but I personally like OCZ. In any case... I would also recommend a Seasonic over...

Best Buisness Comp

These systems are really not targeted at the business computing needs. The average business gets either a D610 Latitude laptop or a 1100 Dimension. For simply accounting work I would recommend the Dimension 1100 w/ P4 2.8GHz XP PRO 1GB Ram 80GB HDD DVD-ROM (INTEL INTEGRATED GRAPHICS)...
