My point was you're making logical leaps without first understanding the root cause of the problem. Your (not you're) justifications are plain inaccurate and smack of engineering logic - which is completely different from the magical bullshit that compromises modern financial markets.

Considering the new C300 Sport Lease

I'd be willing to bet the 2wd version of the C300 is plenty capable in the snow, just as mercedes and bmw's have been for the past 80 years. It's more complication and lower mpg that you'll maybe get a benefit from 2 months a year - i'd say go for the nav unit.

For the price of one pair of diesels...

Diesels are pretty high quality jeans. I'm tall and most jean makers don't make much that fit me well. I would not recommend Seven jeans, however - I've had 2 pair and they both developed enormous crotch holes.
