The human eye doesnt work like a computer game - that "your eye can see up to 30 fps" is just a mssive load of crap. Do some research on it, I'm sure you'll be surprised. A movie at the cinema only displays at 24fps, and it's perfectly smooth to the eye.

This is just stupi.d You rpersonal experiences have no bearing on the thousands of drives being produced and sold all over the world. Maxtor is a big name in Hard drives, and used in many OEM systems. You dont get that kind of name for having drives constantly fail on you.

Bad Hard Drives: What to do with them?

The odds of someone finding your hdd in the trash, taking it home and plugging it in, then having the expertise to recover data (lets face it, these people going through your trash probably arent IT experts) is pretty slim. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

2005FPW Refresh Rate at 1680 x 1050

Your eyes are not sore because of the refresh rate - 60hz is a perfectly acceptable level for an LCD. These LCD's come out of the package VERY bright. You should try turning down the brightness to 0 in the OSD, and tweak your settings from your video drivers software.

I cant wait for DL to become cost effective...but for now, I'll stick with SL media. It wasn't very long ago at all the SL media was over $1.50/GB.

Questions about DVD burner

I have a Pioneer 109 DVD-RW and an LG DVD/CD-RW. It's useful to have 2 optical drives - it means I can do two things at once, eg rip a DVD and watch a DVD, burn a DVD and burn a CD, etc. No reason why you cant have 2 DVD burners - I think it's a good idea.
