I am building HTPC. asus m4a785-m with am2+ 2.6 ghz dual core chip, 2 gb OCZ ram and 1.5 tb drive.
Installing x86 windows 7 ultimate final on brand new drive. During the install, I notice that the busy blue O symbol spins REALLY fast. When I type (either with wired or wireless kb), it will...
Thanks! I receive my vostro (not slim) on monday and was concerned about the power requirements on the box. Too bad dell doesn't have option for dual-dvi from the factory.
I hope the fan isn't loud. I'll downclock it if I need to.
I ordered x1650 pro for my dell vostro 200 mini. Did I make a mistake? Will it work w/o issues? I don't plan to do any gaming; all I needed was dual DVI. I can downclock speed if needed. Let me know! Thanks
UGH i have issues loading. i think it is the newest bios. i didn't have issues before 804. i can't do a restart and have problems shutting down and starting. none of this occurred with the previous bios i was using.
i received the zalman and placed a fan on the northbridge and put arctic silver underneath north and south bridge and can run at 480 fsb. i had to bump voltage up so i run it at 477 now.
i got my replacement P5b deluxe wifi from RMA. put AS5 on NB/SB and put a fan on NB. got a zalman 9500 on and temps are coooooool now. 40 idle vs 60 before. up to 480 fsb vs 472 stable previously on orthos etc.
i have my zalman on another fan header and i control fan with its rheostat. for...
ok new zalman came. new p5b deluxe came too. cleaned NB/SB and applied arctic silver for 12c mobo temp drop. lapped CPU +Zalman =20 C temp drop. my load temp with orthos is equal to my previous idle temps with stock HSF. i get higher overclock too!
i get 720/800 at the moment with coolbits. i tried riva tuner, but for some reason the settings don't seem to work?? if i hit apply and then run 3dmark, i get some really low scores.
i have ocz ddr2 800 plat rev 2 for my 6300. i got it ~2.5 weeks ago at frys.com for 190 after rebate. i think its 210 AR now. i get 475 5-5-5-14 at 2.25v.
if you can afford it, i'd get faster than ddr2 800. but then again, you'd prob only get 500 and for 25 more, that's a lot money...
mine is e600 with crappy stock intel HSF until my zalman comes. lapped too. intel HSF isn't flat. 2 gb ocz ddr2 800 rev 2
BIOS version..................711
IDE configuration:
SATA Config Enhanced
Configure SATA as AHCI
HD Write Protect Disabled
Jumperfree

maybe my temps aren't monitored correctly. i dropped voltages from 1.435 to 1.4 and my temp apps (asus prob, intel TAT) show no change. maybe i have bad luck with asus mobos (my current one is on RMA)
also i have a l629b chip. aren't these reported to run hotter?
i just spent 1.5 hours lapping mine from 220->1500.
yeah my temps dropped a WHOPPING 1 degree C. my stock intel HSF is on tight; checked it a couple times to make sure. my zalman comes sometime this week. i hope it offers better temps.
my b batch e6300 is running at 3.3 (fsb 475). i think i am ram limited. my zalman comes soon. maybe i can get higher speeds. currently i am using stock HSF.
my cpu is the new "b" batch. here's my review. i currently have it on p5b deluxe mobo (my real mobo is p5b deluxe wifi but it died 20 mins into running for some apparent reason which was unbelievable). with ocz ddr2 800 mhz 4-4-4-15 ram, i am currently at 3.3 ghz with ram at 475 fsb and...
well since my p5b deluxe wifi died, i had to determine what was broken. after countless hours, i ended up finding a p5b deluxe non wfifi to test my system out. i determined my p5b deluxe wifit was destroyed for whatever reason and is currently on RMA. my temp board until i return it tomorrow, is...
i have platinum rev 2 ddr2 800. my original mobo p5b deluxe wifi died and is on RMA. curreltly i have a p5b deluxe and my ram is at 475 5-5-5-5-15.
i'm at 3.3 ghz with e6300
what's the failure rate on this board? I got my p5b from buy.com yesterday and flashed to new bios and installed XP on there. i put cpu voltage at 1.5 and ram voltage at 2.2 for my ocz ddr2 800. i was running fine at >450 FSB when the dang thing just shut down. i tried cmos reset, replacing...
yes i did.
i went to frys and picked up another p5b board (i just realized it's not wifi which is what i wanted) and it boots up.
so my motherboard died within 30 mins of it being up and running. Is this probably due to manufacturer defect or power surge or PSU?
argh now i have to wait...
ok so i found an antec 350 psu and hooked it up. nothing pops up. tried different monitors. no go. so i checked my pci card on another computer and it works. now i am leaving the battery out for 30 mins to see if that helps.
i dont have another batch of RAM to try out. i took the HSF off and...
i have new p5b deluxe board, e6300, 2 gigs ocz ddr2 800, raptor drive and old 4mb pci video while new card comes, antec p180 with 3 120 mm fans, xinifity 500W psu and artic freezer pro 7 hsf. i hooked it all up and installed xp. i then changed options to this...
i removed the southbridge. it was hard to get it off. you need to use a screwdriver and put leverage on the IDE connector to dislodge it
i found this guide http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=106563&highlight=picture
i just ordered 7900 gto. best bang for the buck.
7900 gtx is ~380-400 on newegg. 7900 gto is ~260. the 7900 gto is essentially a 7900 gtx. some boxes just have a gto sticker over the gtx label. basically you get a badass card at a much lower price.
