Good to know! I had two 4850s in crossfire but they never scaled well and in some cases like BFBC2 they were worse than a single card. But the 5870 should be a substantial improvement either way.

Deal is still alive, surprisingly. Just put in my order. I was on the fence for a long time between this and a 6870, but I'm not going to crossfire and I don't see anything else this powerful for $200. Should be a nice bump from my 4850 512mb! hehe

balderdash. i have an r1 and it plays crysis fine on medium settings. in fact it plays most games fine, newer games usually on medium settings. the only game i've come across that is just not playable even at lowest settings is battlefield bc2. what have i played on it? crysis warhead...

From 8800gts 320mb to HD4850

i went from a 8800GTS 640mb to a 4850 and i'm pretty happy with it so far. there's a noticeable bump in performance in crysis and call of duty 4. more interesting to me, however, was that the picture quality is genuinely better. i'd always thought these sorts of claims were silly ATI...

drat, wish i'd seen this thread before i bought a bag of these things. every one of them broke off before i could get them installed. at first i tried shaving the edges to get the mounting on the fan side installed, but then the case side would break, anyway.

If you're using your SATA drives in a RAID array, you should have them plugged into the silicon image controllers. Otherwise, connect them to the regular SATA controllers.

OK, I've pushed it a tad further to 10 x 255 @ 1.55v. Temps aren't too bad (34/45). I'm running Prime95 now to make sure it's stable (40 min.s so far). I'll be happy with a 550 Mhz overclock if it holds up! :P

well, the results are not spectacular... at stock voltage, the highest it will go is 10 x 235 @ 1.35v after that, every additional 50Mhz requires 0.05v (though I'm still bumping up incrementally) the highest i've managed to push it so far is 10 x 250 @ 1.5v i don't expect to go much higher...

there probably is some image quality sacrificed, though so far I'm a happy camper with the NGOs. I tried the DNAs with the "fast" install option but FarCry and HL2 still looked surprisingly good. But maybe I just have low expectations. :)
