Poor performance on Sil 3132 controller on A8R32?

Hello, I was just wondering if this is an isolated case, or a general issue with all A8R32 boards: the HD performance on my Raptor is atrocious when connected to the Sil 3132, but works fine on the ULi controllers. This is disappointing to me, as I do need all 5 SATA connectors available...

Opteron 165@3.0GHz

Lucky. 1.4v on CPU-Z (1.375 on my bios) only gets me to 2.547Ghz dual prime stable. If I increase my HTT by 1, Prime will fail after about 3 hours (Core 0 doesn't play nice). More voltage doesn't seem to help too much when I first tried. I'd be lucky to get FX60 speed. Not that I am...

ASUS A8R32 Mini-Review

Em.. I think you missed the Vcore over-voltage option in your 20h experience with the bios ;) It can add 100mV or 200mV to your existing Vcore. Not enough for those with extreme cooling, but seems more than enough on air, and perhaps adequate for water.

opteron 165 at 2567 @1.45volt. Low end OC?

My 165 Opty seems dual prime stable at 1.375v (strange, I could've sworn I set it at 1.35 in the bios). But so far I've not managed to do 2.6Ghz even after more volts. Plus, the temperature goes crazy with more volt: right now my load temperature is 50C (not awful, stock cooler). I tried as...

Alternative to Asus RD580

Interesting. No review at all out at the moment though. Feature wise, it does seem to be a step behind the A8R32, although the later seems to be having its share of issues (not as glorious as in reviews).

Umm, there is talk about the noise level and all... but doesn't the 300+ W power consumption surprise anyone? o.O It seems an awful lot to me... Now I know that not THAT many people can afford this card now (I can't, I grabbed a X1800XT for quite a lot less instead :)), let alone crossfire...

Indeed I have looked at the alternatives. But the Seasonic seem to perform at least as well as most established PSU out there (save PC Cooling & Power - but I've not seen them in the UK, and I bet they would cost a lot more than I willing to pay), and they appear to be one of the quieter ones...

Are you in the UK as well? Compared to the quote in $ I've seen here, they are expensive... Then again, most things here are... Are there any differences in noise between the 500W and 600W? For 10%, I think that the 600W does have better resale value at later date...

Thanks. Seems like I will have to go with the Asus then. Appart from being able to do 16x PCI-E in SLI mode, what other advantage does the Asus 32-Sli has over the Asus Premium?

Wow, you need that many scanners to keep spywares out? o.O I reguarly use Spybot, and run the MS Antispyware fairly frequently too. Guess I'll give all those other tools a spin. Still, its kind of weird that Anandtech is the only site out of all the ones I visit to show behave in this way.
