Poor performance on Sil 3132 controller on A8R32?

Hello, I was just wondering if this is an isolated case, or a general issue with all A8R32 boards: the HD performance on my Raptor is atrocious when connected to the Sil 3132, but works fine on the ULi controllers. This is disappointing to me, as I do need all 5 SATA connectors available...

Will current coolers be compatible with Conroe? I know AM2 will require a change of brackets (at least), how about Conroe?

    Opteron 165@3.0GHz

Lucky. 1.4v on CPU-Z (1.375 on my bios) only gets me to 2.547Ghz dual prime stable. If I increase my HTT by 1, Prime will fail after about 3 hours (Core 0 doesn't play nice). More voltage doesn't seem to help too much when I first tried. I'd be lucky to get FX60 speed. Not that I am...

    ASUS A8R32 Mini-Review

Em.. I think you missed the Vcore over-voltage option in your 20h experience with the bios ;) It can add 100mV or 200mV to your existing Vcore. Not enough for those with extreme cooling, but seems more than enough on air, and perhaps adequate for water.

opteron 165 at 2567 @1.45volt. Low end OC?

My 165 Opty seems dual prime stable at 1.375v (strange, I could've sworn I set it at 1.35 in the bios). But so far I've not managed to do 2.6Ghz even after more volts. Plus, the temperature goes crazy with more volt: right now my load temperature is 50C (not awful, stock cooler). I tried as...

    A8N32 or A8R32-MVP???

http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=91586&page=2 I don't think anyone has managed to do 300Mhz at 1:1 - although one has done 299 which is close enough. http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?p=6637809#post6637809 Long thread, but having gone through the whole of...

    Alternative to Asus RD580

Interesting. No review at all out at the moment though. Feature wise, it does seem to be a step behind the A8R32, although the later seems to be having its share of issues (not as glorious as in reviews).

    A8N32 or A8R32-MVP???

Well, looking around the net, it seems that end-users are currently not getting the high overclocks you get in reviews. It's a bit worrying considering that I have one on my way..

    Crossfire vs SLi

The criticism might've lacked sugar coating.. But it is somewhat justified. It is senseless to attach adjectives to even hardware when you are not in a position to make a judgement (i.e. until you are quite sure what something can/can't do). It does make it seem like you have already made a...

    Asus A8R32 Express

I am not sure what issues you are talking about. But I've posted something here: http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview...atid=29&threadid=1817639&enterthread=y And in this forum: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17535467&page=11 Strange that no one here has picked it up...

Seems like the A8R32 has issues

http://www.driverheaven.net/showthread.php?t=100818 I am not completely surprised since it is just released to the public. What I am wondering though, is how come it hasn't been pointed out by.. well, the few reviews I've read on it (about 5). It doesn't seem like a very subtle issue, and...

AT has a review of the Asus A8R32-mvp

To those who had the chance to read it, what are its main feature? From Asus's specification, it is still one step behind the Asus A8N32-SLi Deluxe, and perhaps even one step behind the A8N-SLi Premium in terms of features. Basically, is it worth considering over the 32-Sli Deluxe for...

AT has a review of the Asus A8R32-mvp

Five were reportedly sold here: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/productinfo.asp?WebProductID=345216 Note that the price is HIGHER than the 32-Sli-Deluxe. Presumably because it is brand new. Darn I missed the review though. Is it cached anywhere? :D

    X1900 XT/XTX Roundup

Umm, there is talk about the noise level and all... but doesn't the 300+ W power consumption surprise anyone? o.O It seems an awful lot to me... Now I know that not THAT many people can afford this card now (I can't, I grabbed a X1800XT for quite a lot less instead :)), let alone crossfire...

    Which Seasonic PSU

Thanks for the replies. I am aware that there are some issues with Seasonic & DFI boards (also heard a new revision of the PSU will fix the problem). I haven't read/heard many issues between Seasonic & other motherboard makes though (any more than most other PSU out there anyway). Still, I...

    Which Seasonic PSU

Indeed I have looked at the alternatives. But the Seasonic seem to perform at least as well as most established PSU out there (save PC Cooling & Power - but I've not seen them in the UK, and I bet they would cost a lot more than I willing to pay), and they appear to be one of the quieter ones...

    Which Seasonic PSU

Are you in the UK as well? Compared to the quote in $ I've seen here, they are expensive... Then again, most things here are... Are there any differences in noise between the 500W and 600W? For 10%, I think that the 600W does have better resale value at later date...

    Which Seasonic PSU

My next system is going to be based on the following: - AMD Opteron 165 (dual core, and it will be overclocked) - Radeon X1800XT - 4 HD including one 10k RPM Raptor. I guess those are the main power drainers. There will be fans, high end sound card, 2 optical drives etc. etc. -...

DFI Ultra D or Asus SLI-Premium

Thanks. Having looked a bit more, the 32-Deluxe seem to provide external SATA (probably not needed). However, it also seems to clock a bit better than the Premium. http://www.anandtech.com/mb/showdoc.aspx?i=2661&p=4 http://anandtech.com/mb/showdoc.aspx?i=2589&p=5 However, the Premium...

DFI Ultra D or Asus SLI-Premium

DFI Ultra D or Asus SLI-Premium

At the moment, I am on a 600W Enermax Noisetaker. But I highly suspect that it is damaged (any way for me to check it?), as my old PC would shut off as soon as its switched on (that said, the mobo looks suspicious too, since all the fans except the northbridge would spin when it would switch...

DFI Ultra D or Asus SLI-Premium

I am building a new PC with an Opteron 165 and Radeon X1800XT. I like the idea of the Asus passive cooling, but I am concerned about what I have heard of the memory compatibility. And I assume that the DFI will be a better clocker. So what I'd like to know is if the memory compatibility...

"Operation Aborted" when viewing Anandtech with IE

Quick question. When browsing this page on Firefox (which causes the problem all the time - I fixed it once by running ad-aware, but its back), is it normal to see a redirection to altfarm.mediaplex? I tried every cure listed on the page, to no avail, so I want to make sure it is the doing of...

"Operation Aborted" when viewing Anandtech with IE

Wow, you need that many scanners to keep spywares out? o.O I reguarly use Spybot, and run the MS Antispyware fairly frequently too. Guess I'll give all those other tools a spin. Still, its kind of weird that Anandtech is the only site out of all the ones I visit to show behave in this way.
