I love Windows 8.1 but I have found a few companies that are not ready for the move to 8.1 like my Epson printer or my motherboard Utilities. The OS is awesome for me and I think that we will be getting a big update soon.
JMO I have used ASUS exclusively since ABIT went out of business. This board I use now "Maximus VI Extreme" is a great board but, I have a lot of problems with the software that comes with the board and Windows 8.1.
Now the only thing I need really is the ability to connect my wife's Nook to my...
I am confused. Do you not own WinRar?
When I right click on a RAR or Zip file I am shown three options
1 - Extract Files
2 - Extract Here
3 - Extract into a directory of the file name you are trying to extract
If you do own it or maybe not when you right click on the file what do you...
I like Sophos AKA Astaro. I am using it as we speak. I am not an expert on firewalls but I can tell you if you have a question someone will have the answer for you.
My set up is ver 9 and I have 6 computers running on it as well as a WII and an Xbox360.
The security is great.
I am not an expert but.... This is what I saw when I looked at your link.
Hardware Requirements
---------------------
- Currently, Intel XTU v2.1 is supported only on Intel(R) Desktop
Boards DP67BG, DX58SO2 and DX58OG.
- A video graphics card with hardware-based support for...
Just read the docs. You can have a Gui. On all of my systems I have a gui. This is soo easy read and get back to me. I knew nothing about Linux and still not that good but just by following the directions I was able to do it in 1.5 days. Anti Spam, Anti Virus and address verification. and so on.
I have used both and these are very easy to set up. I had zero experience with Linux and I still have built 7 of these Fedora boxes and one Debian. I am using this as a stand alone server so if you need those instructions give me a shout.
Fedora Core 4
Debian
A friend of mine has this unit Sony PEG-TG50/U Clie Palm she is looking for the OS and the person who gave it to her has left our company. I am not sure if I can order or if I can get a copy of the OS. Please let me know.
I had a flolppy disk a while back and I thought it was from the people of Free FDISK but I do not see it anymore.
I had to type at the prompt something like "w98" I will see if I can find it.
I have been able to format past 100 gigs with it.
I know it says SATA on the top but all other info says E-IDE I do not claim to be the brightest bulb in the pack but please have a look. I know all seems to be cancled so it may be moot.
If I am wrong please tech me instead of blasting me thanks.
Possibly the "Nice" added firewall might have you locked out.
It gets installed with SP2.
Go to "Start - Control Panel - Network and Internet Connections - Network Connections -
Then right click on your NIC or NIA and go to properties click on the Advanced tab then Settings and turn off...
I am thinking RAID 0 does not work properly through Norton Ghost 7.0 as I think I was told this a few months back but RAID 1 does work.
I am thinking it my work in the windows version of ghost IE not a bootable floppy version.
I could be wrong but look a Symantecs web site.
I reformat more often than not simply because I like things sort of perfect. I pay for this logic as well. $1300.00 for a RAID card and 8 250 gig drives for my back up server.
If you are running XP Pro use Remote Desktop Connection and you can controll your computer from your other one. I love it it is not slow or have any troubles as of yet.
If you are running others then KVM switch.
Although I also run my Fedora box remotely with NX
I just bought a 3WARE ESCALADE 8506-8 SATA RAID - Retail for 495.00 and have it currently running RAID 10 with 8 WD RE 250 gig drives.
Sweet setup for my back up system.
Hardware raid is not cheap
Depending on your situation. I use a 20480 or 20 gig as my c:
and 32.5 gigs for a programs partition or D: and the same for E: games partition.
Then Z: for my mass storage/back up partition 500 gigs to a TB.
I had this problem once and it did turn out to be the date and time in my BIOS. I did not even figure it out until a couple more times then I saw the year was wrong and everything else was right. Changed the year and everything is fine.
usually when I see this it means I have an external drive hooked up or I have a controller that is requireing a driver upon install of os.
RAID card or MB controller that needs a disk.
Go back to the link and look at the section about three inches below "1GB DIMMs: FAST 2GB DDR Kits from Corsair, Gigaram, and OCZ" and you will see a section called prices which will include places like MWave, TigerDirect and so on.
Ok so now I may have something going on.
I keep the router at 192.168.0.1 and the only thing going out of it is going to Windows 2003 box into the NIA and it is setup as 192.168.0.2 and its gateway is 192.168.0.1.
Ok now I leave the NIC settings alone and that cable goes to my HUB...
I have internet via Cable and it goes into my Linksys router. I then want it to go from my router to my 2003 server to the NIA "onboard network adaptor" then I want the NIC "the secon adaptor" to go to my hub where all of my computers will connect to and go through my server for internet...
I like Netgear but if there is another brand that is better I would like to know your opinion.
I feel at ease with a firewall as well.
Thanks in advance
Bill
Well I have had a lot of experiance with mailing software for postal regulations. I used Mail Manager which I think still uses Dbase as its engine. If not you may want to push for an MS Access.
I have converted two of my three machines to Kaspersky with one being Windows XP SP2 and the other Windows 2000 SP4. I have not had an issue yet but my XP version is 4.5.0.94 this is the Personal pro version.
I have jumped off of the Symantec band wagon myself. I have started using DiskKeeper for defrag, Kaspersky Anti-virus pro, RegHance and Ad-Aware SE Professional. As for a FireWall I have a Router with firewall capabilities.
If anyone has any different ideas let me know as I am always up for...
I am not sure about Asus but I Format a floppy disk and let it make it bootable.
Then I put the files for BIOS update on it and boot from floppy and type in the exe file for update.
Did anybody see the clip of the guy and the mascot singing/rap'n in the Giants commercial???? I am still laughing my @ss off. I need to find this if anybody can help me.
